Life on Busch campus

Hi to everyone dorming on Busch...any words of wisdom? What's the social life like, etc? What is the recreation like? Sports, etc? Where are the majority of people spending their time? Is it common for people to jump in one day if they feel like playing volleyball/basketball/tennis etc even if they aren't very good at it, or will people laugh at you? :) Share your stories and advice!

More: What are clubs (student organizations) like? Can you just walk in by yourself if you're interested in joining, say, the outdoors club, or are most people at the meetings and clubs in cliques/groups and with their friends? Is it easy to make friends at RU?

I always hear that it's so much easier at college to be your own person than it is in HS, but I guess Rutgers just seems different to me. Maybe because it's a state university, and almost everyone from my high school is practically going there. I just feel like it will still be so much more clique-ish than other universities.

Hey-- I don't live on Busch (I live on College Ave) but I have friends who do and like 1/2 of my classes are on Busch. Social life is good, I think... a lot of people like who they're dorming with... but there isn't much else besides dorms.... outside the campus is piscataway, which doesn't have anything. (college ave. is right outside downtown new brunswick). But if you're not the urban thing, busch can still be fun.

I know there are lots of intramurals on Busch that a lot of people get involved in (my dorm's floor made a soccer team that went over to busch every monday earlier in the semester). I don't have any personal anecdotes w/ sports and stuff or whatever, but most people are friendly and if theyre not... who cares, there are thousands of other people that you can meet at rutgers.

clubs are definately walk-in and you can join whatever you want... they're all welcoming because they want more members. The outdoors club is really great and has lots of hiking, XC skiing, etc. trips all the time. They also have a "shed" on Livingston campus and you can go and rent whatever equipment you want from them. http://www.ruoc.rutgers.edu/ (click on "The Shed")

Don't worry, people here are really nice and I've loved it so far. (Though I dont live on Busch, but most people like it there too).

Hey, thanks very much for the reply! All the things you've said sound very reassuring...thank you. Are you part of the outdoors club? It all sounds so fun, but I've never been hiking/skiing/etc before. I'd like to learn when I get to RU though, is experience required?

I was really interested in the Outdoors Club in the beginning of the semester but I never got really involved in it because I always had other stuff going on that I wanted to do more :-/. All the trips are really cheap because Rutgers subsidizes them and no experience is required.
