To current Dartmouth students:

I was doing some research on the Dartmouth Residential Life webpage, and it was talking all about the various guidelines for the dormitories. One of the strangest I saw was that for room decoration, only push pins, map pins, and similar pins are allowed, but no gum or adhesives. However, I was simultaneously doing some comparison shopping online for college supplies, and most of the wall decals and pieces do actually require no-mess adhesive strips, and some of them command hooks, which don't strip any paint off of the walls.

Having said that, how strict is Dartmouth on this policy of no adhesives on the walls? Do the RA's and residential staff members check the rooms to make sure you're in compliance with these policies? Or is it just one of those "guidelines" that all schools have, one that really isn't enforced?

Please do share your thoughts! I'm practically befuddled, and whether or not this is enforced will really weigh in on what sort of stuff I buy for college.

Hopefully that wasn't tl;dr.
