Are the courses too rigorous such that the workload is overwhelming? Does it get really competitive?

Depends on what you’re studying and how much you care about your GPA. Pre-med determined to get into Penn Med and shooting for a 3.9? Your life will probably suck. Coasting by with a communications major? Probably less so. But Penn is, generally, very rigorous and demanding–but most people handle it fine.

Is Penn rigorous? Sure, but I honestly feel like college itself is much less demanding. I work pretty fast so I’ve found myself to have much more free time than I’ve ever had in hs since you aren’t stuck in class for 8 hours/day. Even shooting for a high gpa in engineering or pre-med won’t kill you if you have good study habits. Hell, I got so bored I had to pick up a second degree and a new language to myself occupied. I don’t think you have much to worry about.

It is certainly not overwhelming unless you want it to be. I finished with a major and a minor in 3.5 years while also dedicating 35 hours a week to a single campus group and being involved with two other campus groups, a fraternity and a research job. And I sure as hell had a LOT of fun on the weekends… and weekdays!

Thanks guys! I’m taking biosciences or biomedical science. Hopefully I’ll get in!
