Lifetime Fitness

Alright, so, I hate running. However, I was able to snag a spot in "beginning jogging"--it's the only LFIT I've been able to find open at ANY point in time. Does anyone know how difficult this class is? Or, is some other LFIT class way easier and I should just hold out to take it later?

Thanks, guys!

One of my good friends took that, and she said it was super intense. She was really surprised because the name kind of implies otherwise… I think the only LFIT that is easy is the class I took - Walking! Ha. You could always hold off until second semester if you wanted to.

How intensive is beginning swimming? I got a place in that one, but I wanted to get into the yoga/pilates one, but haven’t been able to. I’m thinking about dropping swimming and waiting until second semester, but if it’s not too bad, I might keep it.

I don’t think Beginning Swimming can be too bad because I know a girl who took that to learn how to swim, ha ha! So they definitely weren’t throwing everybody into the deep end of the pool or having them swim hundreds of laps.

Ugh! If they didn’t get rid of walking, I would DEFINITELY take it. I’d much rather have swimming, but nothing will open. Shoot!

CRAP. I’m in that LFIT. ): When do you have it? We can suffer together.

They got rid of walking class?! So that’s not going to available anymore?

Yeah, did they seriously get rid of Walking?

Yeah beginning jogging is not for beginners at all. I don’t know much about the swimming classes because the pools were closed last year. It wouldn’t be terrible to hold out until second semester to take LFIT. That’s what I did and I took walking. The weather is nicer in the spring too if you’re taking one that involves being outdoors. Also, make sure yoga or pilates actually counts toward the requirement. Only the Lfits up to a certain number count toward the requirement.

Sadly, the yoga doesn’t count–it’s a “PHYA” class instead of a “LFIT” class. I don’t understand why all of the physical activity classes that are actually somewhat fun (bowling, archery, horseback riding, yoga, and what have you) can’t fulfill the requirement. So stupid. And yes, there are no more walking courses. Stinks! I was very set on taking one…

I think I’m going to go to the first day of the beginning jogging class and see how bad it is. If I don’t like it, I’ll drop it in a heartbeat! It’d sort of be nice, anyhow–it is my only class on Tuesday and possibly my only class on Thursday (if I’m able to place out of the Chem 101 lab).

Where did you hear that there are no more walking courses? I’m seriously not happy! I am athletically challenged, out of shape and can’t kick/hit/throw/hold a ball properly to save my life. I was counting on walking to save me, lol.

: (

Actually, there’s two LFIT 190 classes that are on yoga…I thought those counted? I don’t know, I didn’t get into one anyways.

Now that I think about it, I had a friend take yoga and she didn’t get credit for it. I remember having that discussion with her - must have been a PHYA class. I think she just wanted some exercise worked into her schedule…

If you do a search for LFIT 112–the walking course–absolutely nothing comes up. A girl at orientation told me they got rid of it, too.
Oh, so the yoga class was one of the “special topic” LFITs? How’d you figure out what those classes were about? When I read the description, it just tells me that the topic may vary and whatnot.

The topics aren’t in the course description…when you click on the class, in the row of boxes that say days & times, rooms, etc, etc, the last box is topic and that’s where it tells you what that class is on. It took me awhile to figure that out!

I’m holding out on my LFIT until next semester, just so that I can be fit on my own pace and time, and then be ready to take that LFIT class. What are the recommended LFIT classes that are easy and/or for the athletically challenged? :)

Does anybody know anything about the exercising and conditioning class? That is what I am taking, I am a pretty active/ fit person though (horseback rider).

The courses listed below may be used to satisfy the lifetime fitness requirement:

LFIT 102

LFIT 103

LFIT 104

LFIT 105

LFIT 106

LFIT 107

LFIT 108

LFIT 109

LFIT 110

LFIT 111

LFIT 112

LFIT 113

LFIT 190

I got this from the undergrad bulletin. They are pretty sneaky about which LFITs count and a lot of people make the mistake of thinking they all fulfill the general education requirement, so just beware.

Which one is “easy”?
