my school bought 100 lb dumbells. I can only do the 60lb ones so far. my football coach does the 100s with no problem after throwing up 5 sets (of 10 reps) on bench at 300 lbs

same my football coaches are all jacked. head coach was an all state football player and wrestler but now hes old and fat. the defensive coordinator is mad jacked and was a record setter in shotput for like 64 ft. and in football. basically all of them are jacked. but one assistant is a stockbroker and owns a company and is mad rich with lambos, porsche boxster supercharged, supras, and stuff.

we had 100 lb dumbbells. since we got a new gym and weightroom with locker rooms due to a renovation. a millionaire family that was an alumni might be donating $100k for new lifting equipment and athletic trainer equipment. that would be awesome but i prob. wont be in hs when its all there :( got new field goal posts with field lighting now :)

oh man that means that your coach can keep you out at practice later. haha :D

naw. i quit after freshman year. hate to admit it but im a bandie. :D odd right seeing a jacked bandie in marching band clothes. oh well im president so i dont care with section leader. i prob. wouldve started the D line as tackle

does anyone know of any effective inner-chest exercises? flat bench/incline/decline presses have only really hit the outer/upper areas of the chest for me..

The cable crossover. http://www.wannabebig.com/article.php?articleid=101
I take cables and go from a position with my arms spread, like jesus, you know what i mean while standing leaning forward. Then, keeping your back straight, you bring the cables across and under your chest, until your arms make a solid X. Repeat switching the arm that is on top with the X. It burns your inner chest, and is a great exercise to end a workout on.

I'm just curious where you guys fall on the socioeconomic scale.

bench: 315lbs
squat: 455
DL: 405 (hammies/glutes not in proportion with quads)
Clean: 275lbs
Snatch: 225lbs
5'7'' 165lbs (competition weight)...180lbs training.

For those who clean less than 200 but claim to squat 400+, you're not going nearly low enough. I am a competitive powerlifter and am well aware of limits. Also, your deadlift should be within 50lbs of your legit squat, or the antagonistic muscle will tear when maxing...

how old are you?

Age: 17
Height: 6' 1''
Weight: 140
Athletics: Distance Running

Bench: 155 ... i'm happy wit maself...

how do you guys get more stability doing bench presses? i could stack on more weight but the bar begins wobbling (even though the weight doesn't feel too heavy), so i have to take plates off just to get full control..

for that reason i've mostly been doing machine stuff instead of free weights

If you can't hold the weights steady, you probably shouldn't be doing them. unless the weight is a little too much if you are trying to get a max. Free weights are much better than the machines. holding the weight steady is part of the excersize and it will help you get stronger

age-16
weight-165
height-6 feet
bench-225
squat-2754
power clean-1855

echo- you're obviously working out for the first time and your stabilizing muscles have not yet learned to work together properly. Keep at it, you'll learn to coordinate movements with practice. It doesn't feel heavy on your chest, yet your delts, tris, and core are having trouble with it.

yeah i've only recently started to really work with free weights. i'll keep crackin at it

i barely started a few days ago but my dad can bench press 415 pounds and my mom can bench press 155 so there is hope for me :)

Maxed out at 250 lbs on the bench.

I no longer max out since it is a bit too stressful on my joints (about as high as I go these days is 200 lbs with more reps).

k&s-shoulder problems?

i really have not seen anyone squat 400 and only put up 185 for their bench

I believe some of these numbers are fake.

I call BS here. These numbers simply make no sense to anyone who has spent any time in the weightroom.

How can you only bench 185 (a relatively low number) while doing a ridiculous 405 in the deadlift?? That's simply unbeilevable; most guys that do 400+ on the dead are benching at around 300, or at the very least, over 200.

Obviously, anything is possible, but this is like someone saying that they can hit 60% of their 3 pt shots but then admitting to only hitting 50% of their free throws in the same breath.

Makes no sense.

Focus

Bench-170
Clean-N/A
Dead-300
Squat-310

I'm 6'4", 185 pounds with ridiculously long arms and legs.

No I don't think they are fake. Some people just do not bp...Look up Bob Peoples. He was a champion deadlifter (700 lbs+), yet he could barely bench bodyweight.

Silver: I would think you could deadlift way more than squat...Leverage. I am a couple inches behind, but you get the idea.
