*LIGHT* packing list for college? Essentials?

Hey, I'm planning on bringing just what i really need like sheets and stuff to college, and just buying things as i need them. i'll be close to home too, so i can stop home to get things i forget. what would you recommend that i need? thanks.

Computer, cell phone, digital camera, clothes, towels, linens...

The rest you can pick up at Target

just take 1 day, carry a piece of paper around and write what you use. thats probably the best way to do it.

for me,
essentials: toothbrush, toothpaste, etc..."toiletries", bedsheet, pillow, pillowcase, clothes, computer, money...thats all i can think of that i'd consider essential

Towel.

10 char

Buy the towels there, even.

make sure u have extra long sheets and an alarm clock if there isnt one on ur cell phone. Maybe a tv cuz there is a lot more free time in college

A tv isn't essential. I got around my first year without one because there was one in the living room and some of my friends had them--watching tv is more fun in a social environment anyway. Ask around--your friends might like the same tv shows you do, or you could make a new one. It's definitely not an essential, especially if you are packing light.

Alternative to getting a TV is getting a TV tuner for your computer.

Just watch it in the lounge. That solves any problems of you and your roommate liking different things or wanting to study vs watch tv.

well 2 me a tv is essential, plus i'll be in a suite and we could just stick one in the living room

Booze and advil. Nothing else. Except maybe money for more booze.

condoms

and those can quickly be turned into money if people know you have some to spare...its amazing how much someone would pay when thats all they need

LOLOL, otto, that's one of the funniest posts I've read in a long time.

For me, necessities are--multivitamins, PC/laptop, toothpaste, soap, clothes, alarm clock, hair gel, music player. Everything else, you can get by or just go to a local shopping center.

Is taking a printer a good idea? Is it generally a hassle to use the college's printers?

For me

All I need is my Computer.

and about 4 gallons of water a day and 4 hrs in the gym and Im good,

Vincent, you must look like this...

bring a printer as a convenince what if ur in ur dorm and u wanna print something? who wants to bring stuff to the computer lab if u can print it in ur room

lol I dont know about that, but thats all I need

I wouldn't suggest bringing a printer. If it happens that you are among the few in the hallway who has a printer, a lot of people will tend to come by and ask to print something and it will be very hard to deny them.
