So, how's everybody liking ucb? Just curious since the first semester is over and grades are finalized and all.

It's cool.

i effing love it man

love itttttttttttttttttttt

best damn school in the world

Should have gone somewhere else.

I'm having a love-hate relationship right now.
I love almost every aspect about it, but because it itself is so great it's hard for me, as a individual, to find any value in my own personal qualities! Maybe a quite a bit egotistical but I'm being honest here. So many students and professors are so interesting, and bright, and motivated it makes any details I used to value in myself seem so insignificant. This is definitely a personal situation and im pretty sure that it'll eventually work itself out as the years pass by.

i feel the same way at times, but for right now it's all about having a good time, and making friends, the great thing's that will make you more interesting and make you achieve something will fall into your lap sooner or later, u just need to be ready to take up those challenges...that's what i figure anyway.

Oh, to think, that I, in one year, will be in the same position as you guys.

have you already been admitted? if you have and have already committed, you'll see that it was one of the best decisions you made in your life.

I haven't been admitted, but I'm fairly sure that I will be, since I'm in state, first generation, and with decent stats. (2110 SAT, 3.9 UW)

I hope it will be one of the best decisions of my life. :)

don't get too cocky, i know plenty who thought the same and got the shaft. but if you do get in, it's a pretty good ride man; it's just about the best time i've ever had.

No offense, but you are DEFINETLY no shoe-in with those stats. Your UW GPA is right at the average for Berkeley and your SATs are good, but nothing exceptional. Pretty much everybody here has the same or better sans those who got in ELC/athletes. Given only those two pieces of info, i would rate your chances of admission at barely 50%. You should also have very good ECs

I think everyone that applied with those stats from my school got into Berkeley. If you are instate it is very easy to get in. Berkeley admissions are very major dependent though! The school of engineering is alot harder to get into than some of the other colleges, most people that apply apply to L&S

I applied L&S. I know people at my school with much lower stats getting in every single year. I think my school is like an exception, because it's an inner-city school that Cal recruit at. People usually with OK SATs and decent GPA get in from my school.

I didn't realize that a 4.26 and ~2050 SAT were "very easy."

Oh...wait...this is CC.com.

By the way, major is a non-issue with the exception of engineering a few other specialty programs. All L&S apps are treated equally.

oh god..people make it out to be so hard to get into ucb/ucla..and it's not. just look at the average stats that the university posts, and people around you! it's not like everyone's a genius...for most it's hard work. so, i forgot who was asking, but i'm sure you're in good shape.

Relative to the vast majority of colleges in the US, it really really is. 25% or whatever admit rate, 4.26 GPA, 2050 SAT? That's pretty darn tough.

(Average Numbers-URM Numbers) means Higher numbers

Yeah, I don't really think its THAT hard to get into Berkeley or UCLA if you're in-state. As long as you have decent GPA and test scores, UCs are required to put you first. Its mostly OOS people and people who couldn't get into their top choice so have to go to UCB that are making such a deal of how hard it is to get into. Its hard, but not THAT hard. But of course UCB/UCLA are GREAT SCHOOLS.
