Like everyone else here, chance me for MIT?

A bunch of awards were given to my FIRST robotics team, but I don't belive they go under my own individual awards as they were in fact, TEAM awards. xD

my recommendations should be very solid from my economics and math teachers. (Do I need a rec. from an english teacher? Is econ considered a humanities course?)

Yeah, I'm really just worried about my GPA. My school course load has been insane with what is going to be 10 aps and 6 honors courses. But I haven't done anything like fantastically crazy like Intel or USAMO or AMC (cause I can't find any school that gives those darned tests xD ) I really love MIT, and they will be my early action school.

Chance me please (for MIT )? I know the above was a quite lengthy post.

a lot of the things you did seemed to only have been done to bulk up your resume… and 2400 sat? nice… i think you’re 50/50 in, kind of hard to tell, its MIT after all! but if you dont get in there, im sure you’ll make it somewhere else

u have a great shot to get in! just make sure u don’t rely on MIT, they can be weird with admissions sometimes

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/752367-chance-me-engineering-colleges.html

I think your GPA is good and you shouldn’t worry about it. Anyways, I hope you get in, because you are like me, only slightly better in every way. :stuck_out_tongue: You have really good chances at MIT, but you know how top schools can be. You’ll definitely make it into top engineering schools (or top general schools if you want).

Why are you worried about your GPA? A 93-94 is an A average by most scales.

You have the stats for sure. Your ECs are decent but unremarkable. The fact is that MIT is so competitive that without a hook, all one could say is that you’re definitely in the running for a spot at MIT, but you’re definitely not guaranteed a spot.

The colleges know where you rank even when your school does not officially rank. If you’re in the top few percent you’re a strong candidate.

Could FIRST robotics be considered a hook? I mean I really do throw myself into it during that six week build season. Also does anyone know whether or not I can apply to MIT early action AND cornell early decision at the same time? I heard Cornell’s engineering is excellent as well. Thanks for replying guys (and girls!).

No, hooks are: recruited athlete, legacy, URM, staff kid, development.
