Like the words of a man who has spent a little too much time alone.

Oratory is pretty much my life during the school year. I didn’t make Nats this year, but I did make final rounds. Next year, though, I will push myself until I make that. I’m pretty sure that’s the only thing I will focus on once it’s second semester senior year. I take it that you’re an original orator as well? If so, freakin’ A, man. niiiice.

Also, not that I mind getting such encouraging responses, doesn’t it really hurt me that my junior year grades are not at all strong?

badadabump.

I think you’ve definitely met the criteria for getting a shot at those schools. Now it’s time to show them your personality with essays and teacher recommendations. Good luck.

Thanks- does anyone think that if my guidance counselor explains the move from North Carolina and adjusting to the school as an explanation for the cutting-it-close GPA, it will help me? I mean, I’m coming up barely 3.7 UW and 4.3 W right now, but it should go up senior year. When we send in our applications, what GPA does the school send? The one from the end of your junior year or with the first semester of senior year, because our first semester ends after deadlines for apps. Also, how are one semester classes calculated into GPA?

hi, this is a bump so someone can answer those other q’s

I’m pretty sure those possible B’s just turned into for sure B’s. I am pretty sure I just screwed myself over for 90% of those schools.

Sorry for not actually having anything helpful to say, but I just wanted to mention that I laughed when I saw “Because I have to: OSU”. I know what that’s like–I’m from Cincinnati and even though tuition is good, I REALLY don’t want to end up there. Hopefully we both won’t have to!

haha i used to live near cincinatti a couple years ago. now i’m up in cleveland. but yeah, it might turn out to be my only choice after this year  sucks for me. good luck to you though!

Ok you get chances just for Andrew Bird references (Imitosis is probably my favorite of his).

Top Choices- I’m early applying to one of these:
Brown/Columbia

I would say apply ED at Columbia because you have good chances there and because Brown is more competitive but (IMHO) not as good as Columbia for prelaw and economics (only because Columbia gives you easy access to NYC).
Brown (with ED) = 25%, without = 15%
Columbia (with ED) = 40%, without = 25%

Also really like-
Duke, Upenn, Dartmouth, Berkeley, UMich, UCLA

Duke- 25%
UPenn - 20%
Dartmouth - 20%
Berk (you’re out of state, so this is really tricky): 25%
UMich - 90%
UCLA - 75%

Considering-
Cornell, Johns Hopkins, NYU

Cornell- 40%
JHU - 50%
NYU - 90%

Because I have to:
OSU
SAFETY!!! (and don’t go there)

Chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/718960-chance-me-i-will-love-you-forever.html

Is it wrong to think that its weird that no one is freaking out that I’m probably getting 3 B’s MY JUNIOR YEAR?

JHU taken off the list. URoch, Georgetown, Amherst added to the list.

those 3 hypothetical B’s turned into actual B’s. I’ve a downward trend. ****.

Does anyone know the admitting processes of those schools? I know Duke uses GPA and SATs and stuff to sort everyone into two piles and then uses subjective stuff to differentiate between top students? What about others? What exactly does “holistic” mean?
