Likelihood of a college allowing RD app to be converted into ED2

My son is debating between two different schools for ED2. School One’s ED2 app is due January 1. School’s Two’s ED2 application is due on January 15th. The catch is that my son has visited School One, but not School Two. He is leaning towards School Two, but is hesitant about applying ED to a school where he hasn’t set foot on campus. We believe that my husband could take him to see School Two, at least just to walk about campus and get a “feel” for it right after the new year, but if he decides he doesn’t love School Two, then he will have missed School One’s ED deadline at that point. So, sorry for all of the lead-up, but what’s the likelihood, in general, that a school would allow a student to convert an RD application into an ED2 application shortly after its ED2 deadline?

You should contact the college directly to check as they can differ, but normally you’d need to make the switch before the ED2 deadline. One option given the two week difference in deadlines is to apply ED2 to school one, and if he loves school 2 then change that ED2 app to RD and apply ED2 to school 2.
