Hello @pdoyle97. I will trot out my usual response to HYP chance posts, which consists mostly of pointing to an MIT post:

You’re new here, so possibly you haven’t seen this thread: <a href=“Reminder: No one, not even me, can give you an accurate chance at MIT! - Massachusetts Institute of Technology - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/massachusetts-institute-technology/939227-reminder-no-one-not-even-me-can-give-you-an-accurate-chance-at-mit-p1.html</a>. It’s about MIT, but holds true as well for Yale.

You sound like a wonderful candidate, as will the vast majority of students who are rejected. Recommendations and essays will probably determine the outcome, and we are not the people reading those.

Best of luck to you!

You have exact same stats as my D. These stats make you academically competitive but so are many others. Yale values energy, intellectual curiosity and achievement drive. These are characteristics that will show (or not) in your recommendations, essays and alumni interview

@IxnayBob - you must have that answer on “speed type” :))

Actually, it’s on my iPad in Notes. I understand the angst of the applicants: smart, earnest, and high-achieving kids who are often unaccustomed to uncertainty – for most of their lives they succeeded whenever they worked hard and here they are at the “mercy” of holistic admissions.

Doesn’t that sound familiar?
