Likelihood of getting first choice in dorms

How likely is it for a freshman to receive their first choice in dorms?

I want to live in University Hall, and I was wondering how difficult it would be to get sorted there.

I am currently a freshman at NYU living in UHall. I was worried about getting placed elsewhere, so I applied for an explorations program to gaurantee I'd get UHall.

Were you ED? because EDers get first choice, so you'd definitely get it then. Otherwise, I'd say you have a good shot, being there are almost 700 kids in UHall.

A lot of people get UHall if they signed up with a roommate. Otherwise, it's basically 50/50. You might get it cuz it's so big and you might not cuz A LOT of ppl want it. I put it down as first choice but I got Third North which was my second. Hope you get it!

My only bit of advice for those who want to be in Hayden but are RD students - apply for exploration floors. My friend got in RD and she said she went out on a limb for an exploration because it was the only way she could get into Hayden.

how about rubin? And do exploration floors have Low-costs?

Mackie45: I have four friends who got in last year RD and all of them were put in Rubin. I don't know if that helps, but usually Hayden is where RD students have trouble getting.

thanks. it does help.

what if a RD student and a ED student request eachother and request exploratory floor on hayden? would that help? also, does anyone know the actual floor # of these exploratory floors? just wondering where in the building they are in case i get a chance to look
