hi all, this is my first time here.

i'm completely and thoroughly upset with myself and my performance in high school; i understand my chances are slim to none, but i would like the opinions of others, please.

schools i would like to go to:

UCSC
UCSB
Boston University
George Washington
Northeastern

im a resident of california and i attend one of the top public schools in the country (a very, very competitive school)

gpa: 3.35 since 9th year; 3.47 since 10th grade
1900 sat
community service
sports
speech

what do you all think? be blunt. what are some good schools i would be able to get into if none of the above? thanks all, youre making my self-imposed hell a little easier.

I'd say you've got a good shot of getting into Boston University and Northeastern because you're from CA... I know people who got in with 1100's and 1200's scores this year from CA when the average was 1341 at BU. UCSB was super competitive this year so odds aren't good. Decent shot at UCSC..... George Washington will be tough. You're looking at the right kind of schools.... I'd recommend Washington, Pepperdine, Miami, SMU, Colorado, Arizona, USD, Santa Clara, Oregon, Calpoly, Santa Clara, and LMU for Universities. For liberal arts I'd look at Trinity (CT), Bucknell, and Occidental. Most of those for matches and safeties. CAL, Michigan, Georgetown, UCLA, USC and Boston College for reaches....... I'd throw Davis and Irvine in their too..... Any school in the top 40 is very tough to get into.... USC had an average this year of 4.0, 1395.....

thank you so much, that provides with a lot of schools to look into. once again, thank you!

We're from Maine. My daughter got into Northeastern a 3.65 unweighted GPA, 1200 old SAT, waitlisted at BU. Some of her classmates with similar scores got in at BU, but not Northeastern. Apply to Both - it's a crap shoot.

more feedback please?

I think...

BU + George Washington are reaches (30% chance). Pretty good shot at Northeastern (65% chance).

BU has CGS (college of general studies) It is for kids with lower scores - but still pretty competitive. Everyone who applies to the College of Liberal arts is considered for CGS. My daughter's scores didn't even get her in there.
