I'm a junior at Chaminade High School (a highly esteemed Catholic high school on long Island, look it up). I've recently decided I would like to go to Northeastern University's pharmacy school. I have a 96 average, 3 clubs, Orchestra, Eagle scout and hundreds of service hours, and I my SAT score is definitely going to be strong. Seeing as my school only does out of 100 grades, I'm a bit confused when I read that NU looks mostly for 3.9-4.3 GPAs, and whether or not my grade of 96 equates to that. My school, being a private tuition, does not follow common core and so has classes that are set at the difficulty level of honors-AP but are not official AP or honors courses. Nervous and uncertain. Anyone have any insight?

Hey Chaminade1, I am currently a freshman at Northeastern and feel I can provide some insight.

a 96/100 grade average seems great, but seeing as it is untraditional the only “true” way to compare yourself to the statistics will be with SAT and ACT.

My suggestion for you would be to email your Northeastern admissions counselor and explain your situation (private school with no official College Board AP courses) and ask for their insight. Not only will this be helpful in answering your question, but will also let you establish a relationship with the person who will be reading your application in one year!

Best of luck.

You can also include that you don’t have AP or honors courses in the “additional information” on common app.
