Hi I am a 9th grader at PESH in the IB program who is interested in going to TAMS. Some of my older friends went there and said it was a great experience to grow and mature so I really want to qualify for it.
Current Classes:
(IH = Basically Honors)
- Orchestra
- IH Precalculus
- IH Spanish 2
- AP Human Geography (Standard for all freshmen)
- IH English II (Standard for all freshmen)
- IH Biology (Standard for all freshmen)
Awards:
- 5 Superior medals and 2 Superior-Exemplary Medals for Solo Viola performances
- Two time All-Region Qualifying Musician (Viola, once in MS and once in HS)
- NSE (National Spanish Exam) Gold Medal
- Texas A&M Mathematics Competition Power Round 1st place
- Ranked 26th at Mathcounts Regionals (MS)
- USA Mathematics Talent Search Honorable Mention and Bronze Medal in MS and HS respectively
- Qualified for TX state science fair with project under mathematics category (3rd in category at regional fair)
- 2nd at Regional History Fair (MS)
- 6th place at TX state History Fair (MS)
And that’s all I can think of at the moment. I am going for the following (pretty hefty) achievements next year:
- Intel ISEF Qualification
- AIME Qualification
- USAJMO Qualification
- USAPhO Qualification
- USAMTS Silver
- All-State Musician
Classes I intend on taking next year as a sophomore:
- Orchestra
- AP Statistics (Can't take calculus yet due to stupid school restrictions)
- IH Spanish 3 (Standard)
- AP World History (Standard)
- English III (Standard)
- Tennis
- I'm hoping to CBE (credit by exam) chemistry and take Honors Physics or something.
What are my chances of getting into TAMS and what can I keep doing to maximize these chances?
Thanks,
~ShreyJ
