Likelihood to be able to change majors at USC??

I applied to USC for Mechanial Engineering (Petroleum) and I thought I had my mind set on that until recently. I’ve become very intrigued with computer science and am no longer as interested in mechanical or petroleum engineering (I think I only liked those because it was what some of my family members majored in and they raved about it).

Anyway I was just wondering how hard it is to switch majors before beginning school or shortly after I begin. I have not heard back from USC yet, so this is entirely hypothetical but I’m just curious of how difficult it would be to transfer into Computer Science (Games) at USC if I am accepted as a Mechanical Engineering Major.

http://viterbi.usc.edu/admission/curriculum.htm claims that it is easy to change majors within the engineering division.

If not in the engineering division, you would have to apply to enter the engineering division. It looks like applicants can be rejected, but there is nothing that indicates whether it is easy or difficult to be admitted to change into the engineering division: http://viterbi.usc.edu/students/undergrad/advisement/changing-majors-to-engineering/application.htm

If you get accepted to Viterbi, changing majors within Viterbi is automatic. This is actually the case with most private universities.
