I just got my likely email from the admissions committee! I'm freaking out!

Congrats! Just wondering, when did you submit your app?

I see you are a questbridge applicant, do you think the likely email could be different from the general likely letter columbia sends and specifically for questbridge applicants? congrats

magnet - congratulations. which school?

Thanks! I submitted it December 19th. It didn’t mention Questbridge at all. And it was the engineering school.

Here’s the text:

"I am writing to inform you that your application to The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Columbia University has been carefully evaluated and that you have earned designation as a likely candidate for admission. As long as our midyear review finds that you are maintaining your current level of academic progress and good standing, you can expect to receive favorable word when admissions packets are mailed on March 29th.

The Committee on Admissions was deeply impressed with your scholastic and personal achievements and with your demonstrated interest in the fields of engineering and applied science. I offer you my sincere congratulations on your accomplishments thus far and eagerly anticipate those that lie ahead."

Wow congrats!! I sure I hope I get one or even get in!

Out of curiosity- what time was yours sent?

Is this only for the engineering school?

@above posters: mine (for engineering as well) came at 4:25 PM EST

got one too! at 4:25 pm as well

My D got her email at 4:25 this afternoon as well. She applied to Columbia College.
Grats to all who got one. That’s 2-for-2 so far for her top 4, I’m in shock, not sure my heart can take all this . . .

I got one as well, and it too was at 4:25 EST. And yes, it was for the engineering school.

I also got one at 4:25! I’m an Australian applicant to Columbia College. So happy!

I submitted my app 1 day after the deadline (jan 2nd) and still got a likely :3

I got my likely letter emailed at 4:25 for Fu Foundation as well! So is this like unofficial acceptance or what?

Wondering for those who got likely emails - do you have a hook, urm, athlete, what kind of stats?

My friend in my school got one for fu. He has a 2150 sat, is ranke in the top 5% and doesn’t have any awards… But he is black

@myafanatic Wow you must be really impressive to be an international likely letter recipient. Mind posting some stats ? Are you applying for FA?

On the contrary, my friend who got the LL for fu engineering really has no extracurricular activities except for authentic science research, where he spent 1 summer at a lab for his Intel project (didnt get semifinalist) and he didn’t even send in his abstract or talk about it, but that’s it. And he spent very little time on his essays… i’m actually surprised he got one

I just got one too! I’m literally screaming and crying my eyes out right now.

Bhutanese, First Generation, Low income
4.47 W/3.9 UW/ 4/257 in my class
2390 SAT(790 Math)
800 all 3 SAT II’s

My accomplishments, beyond my academic profile, aren’t that great compared to most decision threads out there. Most of my extracurriculars are at a local level, and only one(HOSA) is at the national scale. I had a lot of hardships in my life and I conveyed all of them as passionately as I could in my essays and through my recommenders.
