Postmarked yesterday; I'm in the Carolinas so probably got it earlier than most. I don't want to say much else about it...just good luck to all!

Are you a URM or recruited athlete? If you don’t mind me asking…do you have extraordinary stats (extraordinary for dukes standards)

Congrats by the way!

Nope and nope; high gpa, most challenging classes, not perfect scores.

Thank you!

OP, Can you tell me what a “likely letter” is?

Congrats on the letter! Can you give those of us still waiting a few details?

Threads like this always make me a little skeptical. There are trolls all over CC. I’m gonna wait until I see more people say they got one too.

I got one yesterday too. NC, high GPA, no perfect scores. No URM or athlete either

Similar to : http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/duke-university/888923-likely-letter.html?highlight=duke+likely+letter but substitute 31,500 for the 26 k in this link. I turned in midyear report last week, but as you can see from the link, people were receiving letters all the way into late March. I don’t know their criteria for sending them.

please stop disrespecting this guy…likely letters are already out at many colleges and Duke has a high percentage (required) of NC admittees.

Congratulations to both of you, and may April be a happy time when you put a deposit down at the school of your choice.

please keep in mind that likely letters are for 5% of so of students…and that everyone who gets into Duke is worthy in many respects. The only person I know who got a Likely Letter from Duke also received admission to Harvard and to Yale. He never even visited Duke and is at Yale now.
while it is great to get one, your chances are not much related to this tradition and you should not fret about it at all. Duke has a duty to admit a hard percentage of SC and NC students so perhaps this is one of the first target groups.
good luck

i’m in Texas and i got mine today :)

Got mine today as well! In MD, very excited. :D

Did anyone who received a likely indicate that would be applying for financial aid?

Looks like I was wrong. Congrats to all who received likely letters!

Please post your stats if you got one, so the rest of us can compare. Congrats to all BTW

Got one today.
2380 SAT, 800*2 subject tests
Top 3% class rank at a competitive NC public high school that sends 5-10 students a year to Duke.
Really good essays
Well-rounded ECs with a lot of music and academic competitions
Attended Duke TIP summer program a while ago, if that counts
White male, will need some FA
Accepted EA: UChicago with a (not full) merit scholarship, UNC-CH with Scholarship Day
So happy! Got a UNC Honors letter today too!

Got one today as well. Applied BME so does that mean I am a likely in BME as well? Congrats everyone.

Congrats guys! Did anyone receive an invite to BSAI?

From what I understand from previous years, BSAI is for black students and LSRW is for Latino students. It doesn’t seem like Native Americans have their own weekend (probably because they are such a small group) or are invited to these race specific weekends but I don’t think they would leave outstanding Natives out of the opportunity to visit Duke for similar special events. Perhaps a little more thorough research will come to a better conclusion.

Anyways, I know for sure they send likely letters to Natives, I just don’t know if they are invited to these events.
