thanks guys, i feel quite amazed that i was even invited now lol. i do think the bsai thing is for african americans though since the people who have posted that they were invited have all been african americans so far

If you get a BSAI invitation, does that mean that you got in to Duke? The wording in the email is slightly ambiguous.

Hi guys I just got my likely letter as well. I’m from Tennessee and attend a large, competitive public school.
SAT 2300
780 bio, 750 us
2/477 class rank
UW GPA: 4.00
state chess awards, varsity tennis 9-12, deca with international awards, research experience/internship/rec, founded and invested lots of time into a tutoring club
Indian Male, upper-middle class

LOOOOOL.
Did anyone else besides me notice that the date on the letter has a typo? It says that the letter was postmarked February 21, 2011…when it’s 2012. XD

It sliiiiiiiiiiightly slightly bugs me, but ignoring that…CONGRATS TO EVERYBODY WHO GOT IT!! :DDD
I’m so freaking ecstatic right now!

Got mine today! Very unexpected… not an athlete, 2240 SAT / 34 ACT. 800 US History, 770 Math II, 780 Chemistry.

Sent in a music composition supplement, guessing that’s why I got it.

AWESOME.

got one today. Hispanic female, florida. Nothing impressive. 2260 SAT…no outstanding scores, no perfect GPA… just do things that make me happy and work hard at them I guess I’ll post the rest of my stats at some point later. SO HAPPY :)

Yeah got mine yesterday from the Mid-Atlantic ¶…for reference Asian (Indian) Male. 2370, Top 2%, most rigorous course load (14 APs), OK Public School (~10 Natl. Merit Finalist/300 students); 3 770+ SAT IIs. Started Club, Other leadership roles, Research (Siemens Semifinalist), Lots of Volunteering, EMT, Marching Band, Tennis, etc… a little “cookie-cutter.” Essays/recs not stand-out. However, pleasantly surprised. No one should worry if they didn’t get one because the vast majority of acceptees don’t. They’re probably still in committee discussing applications so be at ease.

Does anybody know if ALL applications go to committee or just a select few?

Obviously i’m not sure exactly how it works but I believe they do instant reject some applicants before they are made to committee (but you’d have to have relatively low stats). There may also be instant accepts that don’t need to go through committee. Everything in the middle would.

What would one’s stats have to be to qualify one as an “instant reject”?

One would have to be very academically unqualified and i can only guess. I’m thinking as long as one is in the top 10% of their class and have say a 2000+ SAT with no hooks, one would not rejected in the first pass. Again, this is only a rough guess.

What about a URM (Native American, precisely) applicant; what kind of stats would a Native American applicant need to have to have to make it to the committee process, in your opinion?

It’s a LOT easier to get in as a Native American than any other race, but all colleges get so few Native American applicants that I don’t think anybody could estimate a score range.

Could you give me a guesstimate of average GPA and SAT/ACT for ACCEPTED Native Americans to Duke?

I just want to know if I fall in range or not of accepted students.
