Hi all! As you can see from my username, I received a "likely" w/ 5k merit aid! Anymore else here back yet?

yes!
I got likely today with a $10,000 per year scholarship

WOW I DON’T KNOW WHAT MY FEELINGS ARE DOING BUT I AM SO SO SO HAPPY
this was totally unexpected

email! 10char

Does anyone know if these go out in waves? Or have all the likely letters been sent out already?

probably all out, I doubt sending 300 emails takes a great deal of time or requires waves

Only a small fraction of all those who get accepted each year got a likely letter, so don’t worry too much! One month to go…waiting anxiously! ;)

To those who got likely letters, why do you think you got one? Any hooks?

White male from the midwest intending on an economics major here - certainly no hooks. My stats are available here (plus Intel STS semifinalist, which came after making that post). I don’t think there was anything in particular that stood out in my application.

^^^ I find that to be an offensive understatement…lol

^^ I am surprised that you still got deferred from Yale lol

Eh, it happens. My Chicago app was altered significantly from the Yale one, making it quite a bit stronger, and college admissions really truly is a very subjective business. I’ve always liked Chicago, so I’m just happy they admitted me.
