Anybody get a likely yet?
have they been sent out?
Don’t think so…but should be soon…
I haven’t heard of any likely letters going out except for Columbia University.
I thought some went out around March 15th to certain groups… ILR and SHA get notified earlier than that.
I think upenn sent put a few
out*
My comment above was strictly about Cornell. I’m not sure what the others do.
I think Cornell sends out likely letters in mid-march(I may be wrong). Afaik, only brown and columbia have sent out likely letters now
the waiting is so stressful
I dont get the whole concept of a likely letter. Just admit them if you know you are going to.
@dowzerw I think the basic idea behind them is to snag top candidates first. Universities know that some kids will be getting offers from near every selective school. By telling them their decision early they are not only winning some browny points with the candidate but also giving them extra time to think about the school, schedule tours, and begin to envision themselves attending that institution. That can go a long way when the student is due to make their decision in April.
I know. I just hate how there is so much strategizing that has to happen. Its just taken on a huge life of its own.
D got her letter back in November, 2015.
Diversity hosting sends likely letters mid march.
I assume today or tomorrow for URM and WIE likely letters. Good luck.
I got a letter that said;
Dear [name]:
This special invitation is extended to you because of your strong academic and personal record and because you will be admitted to Cornell University’s Class of 2020.
You are cordially invited to join us for Diversity Hosting at Cornell University.
Hooray!
I just got the diversity email timestamped at 5:01 saying that “you will be admitted to Cornell University’s Class of 2020.” I’m guessing the letter’s in the mail. Honestly a surreal experience, just mundanely checking your inbox and BAM, you’re into Cornell.
I just got an email that says I’m likely to be admitted!
The first part of my letter:
"Dear ________,
I am writing to let you know how much the Cornell Engineering Admissions Committee enjoyed reading your application. Your academic and personal achievements are outstanding and, although the Ivy League schools will not officially notify students of their admission decisions until the end of the month, I am pleased to inform you that you are very likely to be admitted to Cornell.
During the next few weeks, you will narrow your list of possible college choices to the one school you think is best for you. I hope this advance notice of your likely admission to Cornell will encourage you to learn more about this great institution.
"
