Ok, I am an athlete and a hopefully, a possible recruit for Harvard. I was just wondering exactly when are Likely Letters issued to recruits who apply early action. Are they sent after the official application has been submitted or after admissions has looked over an unofficial application? Thanks for any response.

This article was written before Harvard re-introduced SCEA. I imagine that most likely letters now go out around Oct 1 based upon unofficial applications and the coaches recommendations, as Harvard wants to nail-down all their recruits in the SCEA cycle.

Likely letters are issued by admissions after you have submitted the full ap - essay, transcripts, recs. You’ll get a pre-read of transcripts and scores before you take an official visit, but that’s not an assurance that you’ll get a LL.
