My D received a likely e-mail today.

what exactly did it say in the email? ^^^^^^^^^^

What time was the email sent to all of the likely recipients?^^

Just curious…why do some people receive likely letters while other people receive likely emails? Is it just a matter of what’s more convenient for Columbia?

I mean, I live in California, so you’d think that a simple email would be much more efficient…

^^^ It says the same thing that therazor302 wrote on page 1.

^^I got it today at 9pm (weird time).

Got it at 6pm PST, so that’s 9pm East Coast time–so same time as nne718. (Congrats, btw!)

Does anyone know if it’s expected or good form to send a thank you? Or would that be weird? I’m just wondering if I need to communicate w/ the admissions office in any way or anything.

I received one as well today! Completely unexpected. God sure is good! Between this and the Dartmouth and Harvard letters, I have been very blessed this admissions cycle. Best of luck to everyone!

I haven’t heard of anyone sending a thank you to the admissions office, but I’m definitely going to email my interviewer again and thank her.

jgedwards, since you already got likelies from Hahvahd and Dmouth it couldn’t have been that surprising, could it? Nevertheless, congratulations!!! :)

Right! My interviewer! Haha thanks for reminding me, nne718. My mom wanted me to send a thank you to the admissions office… I thought that seemed a little weird, but it’s not like I’ve ever gone through this process before!

lol that’s good that your mom’s enthusiastic about it. My parents are pretty much like, “Congratulations…but let’s wait for Harvard and Yale.” My mom apparently knows nothing about Columbia.

jgedwards11: I am so incredibly jealous. If I were you, I think I’d be able to die happy with likely letters from such AWESOME AWESOME schools. > _ <

At any rate, nice going!

Yeah I guess so. This is my first non-safety acceptance, so it’s pretty exciting. And especially since I got deferred from Yale, it makes me more confident about my other apps to top schools.

My dad doesn’t know yet (he’s at a business function); he’ll probably be like, Oh, cool, but you don’t really want to go there, do you? Haha this is the man who when I said a good friend had gotten in ED to Wharton replied “So?” And he thinks top liberal arts colleges like Williams, Amherst, Swat, etc. are “2nd tier.”

Sounds like my parents alright. It’s pretty much HYP or bust.

i was deferred from columbia ed. i just really hope i get in :)

Good luck!

thanks^^^^^^^^ i’ve been trying so hard to show them how much columbia means to me.

^misterbeck

I’m really excited lol! I didn’t expect to get accepted to most of these colleges, much less get likely letters, so I’m very shocked at the reception I have received. I am so grateful for them! This really doesn’t feel real lol. I’ll admit that after the Harvard one, this wasn’t as surprising, but still unexpected if that makes sense haha. I will have some tough decisions come the month of April.

wait. so columbia’s likely letters weren’t all sent out at the same time like upenn’s were? does that mean there’s still hope for me? i really don’t want to wait till march 30th - it’s so far away! lol

Good luck good4college!

nne718, thankfully my mom is a lot more open, and my parents will pretty much let me make my own decision (though I don’t think they’d be too happy about me choosing, say, Bowdoin over Harvard, if I got in to both–but then again, I don’t think I would). But yeah, my dad’s everything-not-HYPS-is-grossly-inferior point of view sort of sucks…

The window for Likely Letters being sent is Oct 1 to March 15 by joint Ivy Agreement.
