D received one last night. School of Nursing.

I received the email yesterday also.

Wharton applicant here.

Violator, internationals received them too.

Got my email and pennlikely.com link last night; excited but wary.

SEAS

D received a likely as well. Very excited!!

Received a “likely” email last night! I applied to CAS and I’m absolutely thrilled
Congrats to everyone!!

Congrats to everyone! Unfortunately, I didn’t receive a letter (as expected), but does anyone know if historically these all go out at once? Is there a possibility that they may be sent out sporadically?

it was an email, so I assume that they would send them all out at once, as opposed to mailing a physical letter. And don’t worry that you didn’t get one, only 200 kids get them, which I think comes down to less than 10% of admitted students, so the majority of accepted kids never get one.

About 7.6% of accepted RD applicants received a “likely” letter last year. In other words, 92.4% of accepted RD applicants did NOT receive one. :)

Why is it that the people I find on these UPenn forums always so damn nice? This is my favorite forum.

I love you maserrano! <3

No, I love YOU.

I just tend to run into so many snobs on the other forums, like the massive throng of people that told me I had no shot at Boston College, yet got in anyway CC can be a terrible place, but I think that forums like the UPenn one are immensely helpful. I’m not sure if that speaks for the school at all, but I would love to think so.

Thanks again,
Marc-Anthony (no, not the singer)

im new on CC…

could anyone give me their opinion on my chances?

GPA: 3.7 unweighted (straight As and A+s from junior year up, upward trend, strong commonapp essay regarding my lack of maturity as an underclassman and how i turned my gpa around)
school: CAS
major: linguistics

SAT I: 2110 cw: 640 math: 700 writing: 770
SAT II: spanish: 740 lit: 670
APs: World (as a freshman), US, Lit, Lang, micro econ, macro econ, spanish, psych, gov, calc AB
courses: honors and AP since freshman, three languages spanish french and german
hook: I excel in foreign languages, have taken 6 years of spanish, 2 of french, 1 of german, love traveling and foreign cultures, I’m half puerto rican so I have experienced other cultures already, also I am a non-native speaker and do not speak spanish at home so it’s not like the 740 SAT is a given

(will being half puerto rican help?)

recommendations: great

supplement essay was well written in my opinion if anyone wants to read it, it ties in my ECs to my future aspirations

ECs: i dont have a humongous list of leadership roles and volunteer hours, however…

spanish club for 2 years, ran for president, lost, but was asked by the teachers to be “advisor to board” since the girl who won wasn’t really what they had in mind
-jv lax freshman year, doesnt really count, but i had to stop playing sports in general for a long time due to a stress fracture in my spine
-division A rec soccer league this year
-assistant teacher for religious education class of eight graders
-random volunteering for church throughout 4 years

the ec i most stressed on my app was a People to People Student Ambassador program that I prepared for throughout soph year and actually participated in the following summer, consisted of a 3 weak trip to England and France, basically said in my supplement essay that I realized I wanted to work internationally after that trip due to my love of the cultures I experienced. also visiting France is what prompted me to take french, and consequently german as well

thank you very much to anyone who give me feedback. I’ve been obsessing about college stuff lately and all I can do to occupy my time until decisions are out is chill on CC. so yeah

So, are you guys telling people about your likely? :)

I told my three closest friends, but other than that I think I’ll keep a lid on it until decision day.
If I can hold out for that long.

haha, yeah. I told a few teachers and I’m probably going to tell a few of my close friends as long as they haven’t applied to to Penn. We all know how quickly word spreads though, lol

The reason I was wary about the letter in the first place was that I don’t consider myself a super-qualified candidate:
GPA: 3.99 OR 4.0 depending on where you round, haha
QPA: 5.2ish
QPA Rank: 1 out of 375ish
AP Exams: 5s:7, 4s:0, 3s:1 (Spanish Lang). Taking 8 exams in May
ACT: 35
Varsity Tennis (State champs)
Editor-in-Chief of fairly strong Newspaper
Online Writing including NFL.com
Essays: I expect they were basically run-of-the mill. Nothing spectacular
Recommendations: haven’t seen them but probably a good one from my Newspaper Advisor and two average ones from other teachers

I still am not letting it sink in until March 30.

I will tell a couple close friends, but won’t be facebooking it or anything boastful like that.

I would facebook it in a second, are you guys kidding? That’s not boastful at all, it’s sharing your joy with the the people around you.

I told just my three best friends and my family. I have a lot of other friends who applied to Penn RD and others who were deferred ED, and I feel like it would be awkward for me to start celebrating my likely letter in school. I’ll save it for March 30.

But yeah, I expect that people will sorta find out, which is fine. I just don’t want to make a scene.

congrats to all who got likely letters
