Likely Letter... what now?

Ok I just received a likely letter a few days ago, and I was wondering what happens next. Is there some program that I go to where I meet other students who got LL from Duke too? Thanks.

No, you sit back and wait for that acceptance letter and decide if you want to go to Duke.

Duke invites its 300-350 strongest admits for a special campus weekend trip at the end of March/beginning of April I believe where you get a personalized tour of the buildings and receive a speech from Coach K. This definitely happened for those admitted during 2007 for the Class of 2011 (when I graduated) but I’m not sure if they’ve scrapped it or not.

Were you aware of this weekend SBR?

Mandelbrot, congratulations on being admitted to such a fantastic university!! You can sit back and enjoy senior year of HS now.:)

Nope was not aware of this, hmm guess I was wrong then. My bad. Oh well, that’s just an extra step:

1) Wait for acceptance letter
2) Go to special secret weekend
3) Decide where you want to go to college

Watch out for a potential scholarship recruitment letter now. It’s more likely if you’ve gotten a likely letter, but still very much a waiting game!

I just got my likely letter today! I am so surprised I did not even know they existed and I started researching it and cannot believe I got one! Is this ‘secret weekend’ the April dates that were mentioned in the letter?

MarinaK, what state are you from?

I live in Florida.

I received a likely letter today too! I did not know Duke or other schools did this. I live in Florida…Now what?

Congrats!! Is there any reason in particular you think you got one? Major etc?

I received one today as well, and I live in California. I’m not a urm or legacy or athletic recruit, but I applied for bioengineering and submitted my app in early December. Pretty stoked :D

I am not a urm, legacy, or athletic recruit either. I honestly do not know why exactly I got a letter. I had a pretty awesome essay though that related to a trip I took to Ecuador this summer and maybe they loved it and thought I would be perfect for DukeEngage, but that is only a guess. I mean I have good scores, perfect grades, and decent extracurriculars but doesn’t everybody? Something just must have clicked.

OMG I got the likely letter!!! Does that mean that I’m in? I can’t wait to go for LSRW! Is anyone here in this forum going for 2012??

Yes, assuming that you don’t implode. Congratulations!!!

Congrats! I wish I’d get a LL, but I’m a weak applicant.

I got a likely letter as well. I’m stoked!!!

Has anyone received followup communications after receiving the likely letter? I got my LL in February, got rejected by Robertson and have not heard a word since…
