<p>No they aren’t. Sure the coach can only call in so many favors with admissions but it’s the coaches way of pursuing his/her best recruits. There’s nothing unethical about the student currying as many good offers as possible. There’s no quid pro quo here. Student isn’t bound in the slightest.</p>
