I haven’t been reading all of the posts…I just saw that there was one that referenced the overall admit rate.

The rest of march is going to be tough for some of you.

i got one too! glad i did its the only high level school applied to =D

I came home today hoping for a Likely from Virginia… and I got one!!! But its from URichmond though lol.

Man, at least you guys are getting something. I don’t even bother checking the mail anymore.

i think that they did send more likely letters this year cause atleast 6 people that I know for sure at my school got them maybe even more. I didnt get one but im being positive about UVA :)

oh i also go to a public school in VA

Optimism at its finest.

Better than pre-emptive pessimism :)

Will everyone post their indicated major? Interested to see if there is a pattern with who did and did not get one. Any chance that could be a factor??

@theman44
same situation!! likely from Urichmond…but not uva

Social Sciences is all I know about mine. I think I put Political Science and Psychology in there somewhere.

I doubt there is any kind of correlation between potential major and LL…a LOT of students change their major at least once during college.

Daughter received a likely letter from URichmond today and a LL from UVA on Saturday. Wow!

We were not expecting either so we are pretty excited but wondering now what the results will be like from the more selective schools she has applied to.

Without major FA from Richmond, there is no way we can afford it.

Cant wait for 4/1 - so we can know what the FA is from each and what is still a realistic option for us.

I’m seeing a lot of new posters in the UVA fourm. :D

Yesterday, I got my UVA “we were impressed with” letter and didn’t understand that I would be offered admission. It sounds more like I need to go visit to get in. Dartmouth’s likely letter which I received on 2-1 was so much clearer "“there is no question that when we make our final decisions at the end of March, you will be offered admission to the college.” I am very interested in UVA but don’t understand why the letter couldn’t be clearer like Dartmouth’s letter. Does UVA require a visit in order to be accepted? Of course I will visit if accepted when I narrow my final two or three choices to a single school.

Snowbound quite the opposite… they don’t gauge interest (which would include visits) in the slightest bit

Yet they keep a record of who has visited :o

But yea, UVA dosen’t track

VAcollegehopeful…I don’t think there’s any connection between LL and majors. If you’re searching for some type of correlation, I might suggest looking solely at the objective stats (UW GPA, ACT/SAT, SAT II, APs/scores) of those who have posted.

Just wondering since there are so many overachievers with all the right stats (grades, test scores, ECs) that are accepted, but do not get a LL. Just trying to figure out what box that is or is not checked off that makes someone stand out There are students at my school that I would have expected to get a LL that didn’t and some that did that make you go hummmm? Plan to take advantage of ED when the time comes, but the same things that set apart for LL may make a difference on ED…

I got a likely letter, and I do not consider myself an overachiever at all. I’m just passionate about a single extracurricular, and made it clear in my application.

The letter itself was a little cryptic; not so much saying “you will be accepted”, but more like “we hope you will matriculate here if accepted.”
