Likely letter?

Hi, does Cornell send out likely letter to RD applicants? Will Cornell send out decisions between now and end of March?

They did last year, but it’s pretty limited. Putting aside recruited athletes (which is always a special category), last year, likely letters were sent Certain URM’s and Certain Female Engineering students. No one really knows what the standard is, and don’t feel bad if you don’t get one. Most accepted RD candidates do not get one.

I think they may come out at various times – I know for sure that some went out (by email) a couple of weeks before the RD decisions were due out.

Hey, I got a likely letter last year from Cornell. It came exactly two weeks before decisions came out.

thanks for the info.

Dartmouth def sends them out and has been for about a week. Have not heard of anyone getting a Cornell one yet…

I just got a likely letter from Cornell today!

I got one just today!
I’m not an athlete, but maybe it’s because I’m in Engineering? (and a girl haha)

oh, & congrats, al2012!

My daughter just get one, we are really happy.

I got one today!

thanks jinglebell! yeah im a girl in engineering too… hahah that must play a role…

I got one today too! (and I’m a girl in engineering so I’m definitely sensing a trend here)

Also got a likely letter from Cornell (Female in Engineering)

I got one too, Hispanic male, no engineering

got a likely letter by email?

Yup, it came by email!
Does anyone know what the chance is of getting waitlisted/rejected after getting a likely letter? :/

CaliGirl

Practically zero unless you do something that might get you rescinded.

@CaliGirl: it IS zero besides the calamitous scenario zephyr described – commit a felony, fraudulent application, flunk out of HS. It’s Cornell’s “promise ring”

i got one from the college of arts and sciences today! (tanner dean scholar)
and i’m a female, but planning on majoring in psychology. i’m definitely no athlete.
and i’m asian.
the antithesis of hooked…i just guess i got extremely lucky!!

^lol wow. You must have a great resume :)

@loltoasty, thanks…that’s nice of you to say
but nah i honestly don’t think so. i was deferred at yale.
so i think i just got really really really lucky with cornell.

who knows, this whole admissions process is such a crapshoot
