Likely Letter

Okay guys, I definitely think this is a likely letter. I'm in-state, so here goes.. I've already been jumping around and whatnot so hopefully it is what I think it is:

"Dear. Ms. Chowdhury,

The Committee on Admission has reviewd your application and found it impressive. Your academic record, as you are probably aware, is unusally strong; so are your achievments outside the classroon. In our experience, students who have distinguished htemselves in such a wide range of activities tend to move successfully through their college years and into positions of leadership in their fields of interesting. I trust that this will be the case with you and I encourage you to continue challenging yourself....

...Please give serious consideration to the University of Virginia where you might continue to grow and thrive...

And the rest just talks about the University, Jefferson, and the men and women of UVA who "I will find".

So tell me, what do you think? If that's not a likely letter, I don't know what is...

you are in..when they start telling you to consider a school after apps are in and they have taken your scrilla, you are in
woot woot!

fjchowdhury, what are your stats?

I think I've seen her STATS posted before and there is no reason why she should NOT be admitted.

Yeah, this is definitely the likely letter that a few people receive. As long as you don't kill someone and end up in jail or something you'll be in.

My SAT scores aren't spectacular, but here they are:

SAT I: M: 680, V: 670, W: 700
SAT II: US History 780, Math I: 600, Biology: 630
AP Scores: Environmental 4, US History 5, Biology 3
GPA: 3.8 UW, 4.53 W

As you can see, my stats aren't the best. I think my extracurriculars and honors and stuff really pushed them.. I was very proud of my essays, and I have quite a few significant awards under my belt...

Thanks for all your developments/comments guys, I wish the best of luck to all of you. Of course none of us will actually know 100% until March..

did u recieve the letter in the mail today?

My Daughter is a Second Year at 'Hooville and received a letter with the exact wording as yours!

Congratulations, this is a likely letter and you are pretty much in!

Also, you may be a candidate for either the Echols or Rodman Scholars program depending on which UVA school you have applied for.

By the way, my Daughter is definitely enjoying her time at UVA. If you go, I am sure you will to.

fjchowdhury, are you instate? would it help?

fjchowdhury, it looks like you received a likely letter and will be getting in. However, to be honest, it's surprising. Although you still may not get echols, your stats are below what typical echols and likely letter people have.

I'm really not trying to sound obnoxious or condescending towards urm... but maybe fjchowdhury is a urm? Because even if they have amazing awards outside of school, uva commented on their academic background, which isn't that competitive among all instate applicants.....but urm are held to different standards....

?

here's last year's likely letter thread, if you're interested:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=34581&highlight=letter

cav would making her from richmond sort of help her?

No. (10 characters)

If I get that letter fjchowdhury got, does it mean I'm so in UVA, or am I in consideration?

I am Asian, I don't know if that really counts as a urm since htey are not really underrepresented at most schools, haha.. but I didn't specify it on my application. I really think my essays and awards might have reeled them in, if anything. We shall see what happens. And yes, I got it today.. one of my other friends who is like cream of the crop stats-wise received one too, and that's all I know for now, and being instate definitely helps of course

Being instate has nothing to do with likely letter/echols stuff.

Congratulations! Has anyone else received anything similar?

My daughter received the same letter today.

i received that letter LAST YEAR. yes it is a likely letter.
