An official acceptance packet comes by mail when everyone else is notified.

lol, i dont think 40+ bucks for a candy bar is much worth it

The letters are mailed out around the same time the emails are sent out. The emails are just preliminary to let you know a few days beforehand. I actually got my email one or two days later than the other three people in my HS did (all of them were RD though), and then the letter a few days to a week later. I guess if you're an RD applicant it'll get grouped in with your normal admissions stuff. Since I was already accepted I just got a single letter about Echols right before spring break, and the email sometime before that. Of course, it was pretty exciting for me as well then because I had absolutely no idea that they would consider even qualified ED applicants for Echols

Ravenna, ODU and CNU with your stats? You would have been crazy!! hehe, good job by the way. Don't go to Dartmouth...it's in the middle of nowhere and it costs 40 grand a year! I'm also in-state...;-)

I got the same letter!!! I'm really excited (I ADORE UVa), but if my grades stay about the same 2nd semester sr year, am I 100% in? What are my chances after receiving this letter?

For those of you who were accepted in past years, do you know if anyone got a letter and did not get in? When did you get the real decision?

Wow... today has been great :-)

oh, and what are Echols or Rodman????

hopefully i'll get a letter tomorrow

s42a13g1, this is from wikipedia:

"Numerous special scholars programs are offered by the University. The Echols (Arts and Sciences) and Rodman (Engineering) Scholars programs include 6-7% of undergraduate students and offer these students the "keys" to the University, in the form of advisors and priority course registration. The Echols Scholars live together, with the University's Rodman Scholars, during their first year. Echols Scholars are also freed from the area requirements of the basic liberal arts curriculum. No monetary scholarship is offered through the Echols or Rodman programs."

Got that letter today. OOS.

I got a likely letter too! woohoo, im ecstatic!

i got it too. in state

So we're IN!

There were so many sent....is everyone sure this is a likely letter?

i dont think there were "so many sent", maybe like 500 letters total, out of the 16000 or so applications. Only 6-7% of the incoming class will get Echols/Rodman. The incoming class is around 3000 students, so around 200 people will get Echols/Rodman

i just got a letter and I am thrilled. i visited UVa and loved it.

it's going to be a hard choice, but UVa definitely is awesome!!!

I received same letter on friday.

SAT 2360 (M790, V800, W770), Math2 800, Physics 800, M-Bio 790, instate, and UVA echos is my serious consideration.

Echos website says program does not give merit scholarships, however, UVA website indicates "Non-need-based: Awarded to 3026 full-time undergraduates, including 1005 freshmen. Scholarships awarded for academic, ahthetics, leadership, minority and state residency...".

Academic scholarship chances for echols? Anyone knows? Thanks.

There are no academic scholarships given by the University of Virginia. The Echols Scholar designation carries no monetary award.

I wish I can check my mailbox today, but I'm grounded.

...you're grounded? how old are you? 10? lol.

lol. yeah, I got in trouble so many times that my parents finally decided to ground me.

So...you can't leave the house?
