Hi! I checked my mail a few days ago and found that I received a likely letter from Duke. I was shocked beyond belief and super excited about it. I found out a little bit later that a couple other students (one from my school) had also received a likely letter from Duke. Does anyone know how likely a likely letter is? I was under the impression that very few students received it? Is it just coincidence that my friends received one too? Does a likely letter guarantee admission?
Short of expulsion, a felony, or y’know, gross misrepresentation being discovered, you’ll be joining the Blue Devil family-- congrats!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
And you are correct, LLs are not the norm for Duke.
So if we received an email like this…is this the opposite of a “likely letter” and thus the kiss of death from Duke??
I want to let you know that Regular Decision applicants to Duke University (and Early Decision applicants whose admission decisions were deferred to Regular Decision) may view their admissions decisions online beginning 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015. Financial Aid decisions will also be available online for those whose applications were complete.
Since we deliver our decision letters to applicants, we expect only the applicant will be checking his or her decision online. When you decide to check your decision online, we strongly encourage you to do so in the privacy of your own residence, not at school. We believe your decision is a private matter, and for many reasons we have found it is best for applicants to be away from friends and classmates when they check their decisions.
@SanD3526 Nope, everyone got that email too! And i just got my likely letter so that means nothing!
Thanks…remaining hopeful
My daughter didn’t get an email notification or a likely letter. Any ideas what may be the reason?
@Maroonsfan: As indicated by several posters in several threads, most of those who are accepted do not receive LLs.
