Likely letter?

Hey, has MIT sent out likely letters yet for EA? Do they even do that?

Huh, I've never heard of that... I don't think MIT does that, but don't quote me on it...

It doesn't seem very consistent with the way they handle admissions if they do. But again, like dally, don't quote me on that!

Only the Ivy League schools do that; And they only do it for recruited athletes... Yea, so everyone has to wait till Decision Day (D-Day, haha)

MIT does not send likely letters for EA or for RD. Or any other time.

Ivy Leagues don't only send out likely letters to athletes. Someone who got into Harvard from my school who is like the most unathletic person got a likely letter in February the year she applied.

MIT had never sent and will never send any likely letters; everybody who was admitted was treated equally.

oh ok, makes sense.

I wish I were dealing with MIT admissions!! Not a sciencey person, though. But I LOVE the way they handle admissions - I was reading through their blogs and it's amazing how genuinely nice and non-mysterious they make it. DAMN YOU HARVARD FOR BEING MYSTERIOUS.

And Yale is an outright jerk about it! If you read their admissions website, all of their answers to FAQs and what not are "Well, you could, but we won't like it." It's all one giant threat! If I hadn't visited, I might've been too scared to apply!
