lol so I guess I still have a chance for a CAS likely letter. I mean I got a letter a long time ago for being a National Hispanic Scholar, but I think that was "hey you should try and apply :-) "

but I think it takes a while for a letter to get from Ithaca to my house since a financial aid letter was postmarked on the 23rd of feb and i didn't get it until the 5th of march....

who knows! good luck everyone!!!

mikey101: Yes, I applied to HE. No phone call. But i got a financial aid letter yesterday (it was sent out feb22) and when i emailed the admissions office i just got an email from them saying March 29 is when decisions will be released

I received a likely letter today. (College of Arts and Sciences) I'm an intl. applicant from Germany.

Does anyone know how many people who apply to engineering get likely letters?

hey any canadians got a likely email?

got in...international!!
and at Arts and Sciences...
ecstaticness!!!!
i was waiting for universal rejections and i went and got a likely!
yaay!
anyway
got 7 As for my A levels
800 M 800 CR 750 W
800 Math 2 780 Physics 770 Lit

it doesn't look like anyone from engineering has gotten one yet.

yay congrats foodaholic. I got an email as well. Was yours also an email?

yes it was...where are you from?
and congratulations to you too!

Hey foodaholic!
I' feel exactly as you do. I thought I would be rejected at all of 'em, and now I'm so excited!!

BTW judy, mine was an e-mail, too.

im from Canada. congrats sulipro! Is your Cornell your first choice? What other schools are u waiting to hear from?

Sorry guys, but I'll have to correct the "only URMs got likely letters from CAS" theory. I'm 100% asian and I'm living in Europe, so they do send out likely letters to "real" internationals. Real in the sense that someone isn't American or Canadian or Mexican and stilll lives in his native country. So to all the non URMS and international students, keep up the hope! I'm certainly not special and didn't really expect a likely letter at all. Well, I'm pretty excited right now and wish all of you guys who are still waiting: GOOD LUCK!!!

ya i got an email today, and i'm non-URM... guess they changed their policy from last year

edit: i'm CAS

Are the e-mails only for internationals? And what school did all the e-mail recipients apply to?

how many ppl get the likely letter?
like, what percentage?
and how about those who applied to engineering?

The number of ppl who get likely letters varies from year to year, so none of us can really tell you. I don't remember seeing any engineering kids who got likely letters, at least not in this thread. Guys, in about 2 weeks you'll know anyway!

really?
cause i know someone who just got a likely email, who applied to engineering and is a Canadian

hi,
i just called the admissions office, and she said it is a possibility that i might be admitted, that i am a likely candidate. umm..how does that make it any different from a normal applicant??

Yaaayyyyy!!!!!
I just got the e-mail!!! :D

'real' international from Pakistan.

Btw, foodaholic, the e-mail means that you're definitely IN, unless they get to know something horrible about you... The reason they're not saying it straight out is that they're not supposed to! The ivy league common reply date is the 29th and informing applicants beforehand would be a breach of that agreement...
