<p>The letters are form letters, so aside from saying “Dear _____”, they are not personalized.</p>

The Committee on Admission has reviewed your application and found it impressive. Your academic record, as you are probably aware, is unusually strong; so are your achievements outside the classroom. In our experience, students who have distinguished themselves in such a wide range of activities tend to move successfully through their college years and into positions of leadership in their fields of interest. I trust this will be the case with you and I encourage you to continue challenging yourself. </p>

<p>Please consider UVA, etc. Please visit, etc. The Committee of Admission will make its final decisions by the end of March. In the meantime, we wish you every success as you complete your high school career. </p>

<p>My son received the same letter today. It also says “Please give serious consideration to the University of Virginia as the place where you might continue to grow and thrive.”</p>

<p>Ah, I didn’t think they’d hit mailboxes until Monday. Congratulations!</p>

<p>Now, just to restate:</p>

<p>Do not read into the absence of a letter. A small percentage of students get one and they are mailed out in waves. It’s best to assume you will not get one and then be happily surprised if one shows up. We are still reading applications and these letters will continue to be sent out over the course of the next month.</p>

I’m an international, but live in NoVA, so I’m guessing int’l status dosn’t matter w/ respect 2 letter thingy. gl all</p>

Don’t guess…we don’t have a set number or percentage.

why the small envelope uva?

The #10 envelope makes it through the postal system more quickly and cheaply than a large envelope.</p>

Yes, as you can see on my blog, though, they are sent by regular mail and probably won’t arrive in a timely manner.</p>
