UCLA is better in Electrical Engineering than USC.

really? ok becuas i got into USC and i received the letter from ucla.

I just called teh number in the email and the lasdy that i talked to said that everyone who got the letter last year was admitted to the school its like an unofficial/likely letter and she was laughing with me and highly recommended that i come and that though she could not say anyhting official because they are not admissions and that the decisoin comes out the 19th! i thought i was the 27th! but she said 19th

so if you dont get one, does that mean ur rejected?

Is it unlikely there will be more emails sent out?

I do not believe that you will be rejected if you do not get the e-mail. Plus, the e-mail says:

"We have received your application to UCLA's Henry Samueli School of
Engineering and Applied Science (HSSEAS)..."

It does not say anything about the other schools. I think that it follows the Regent's format. They chose their top students, but not everyone.

Most everyone that did not receive the letter last year was rejected, at least, from the people I know (ie. people at UCLA, people from school, people on CC).

Last year, there was a second batch of mails that came out a week later (note, they were post-marked a week later), so that is reasonably possible. Then again, it is going by email format this year, and that is completely subject to change. Still, while I say its unlikely that a second batch will come out, it's not impossible.

SOMEONE ANSWER THIS QUESTION:

If you got the letter, are you in UCLA or not?

I think the answer is high percentage yes you did get in? haha

OK, no one could answer that last year, so no one can answer it this year. From observations, then, yes, everyone did get in from CC (and from my friends at school), but does that mean that you should be jumping for joy and anticipating a huge letter FOR SURE in a couple of weeks? I would still keep the powder dry for now.

Thanks Peppers.

thank you foxiechick9 for calling them...clears up alot...

Same story:

If you receive the message, you are 99% in. The reason why they announce this earlier is because people from out of state have to book tickets to come to the Engineering Open House.

I have never heard of anyone who got this letter and subsequently were rejected. (all my friends, people at my high school & area, all people on CC)

Congratulations. Just don't do anything stupid, keep up your grades, and see you at UCLA in the Fall.

why is everyone jumping to this conclusion that those who don't get this email are rejected? because from what i see everyone here who has gotten the email are all engineering majors, so my bet is that this is a "likely" for them to attend a open house, but there is nothing about the other departments.

i applied for engineering and didnt get anything so im assuming i got rejected -.-

i think you read it wrong symphonyofs0und.
these people applied to engineering majors and the people who are "jumping to conclusions" are the ones who did not get the letter/did get the letter for ucla's engineering program.

i don't think anybody is talking about college of letters and science or what not in this thread. simply samueli school of engineering.

ok so basically this is what happens when you get the letter.

if you got the letter chances are you're in unless you screw up your senior year. Other than that congrats.

if you didn't get the e-mail within this week or next well...sorry...

It really is only about engineering majors, symphonyofs0und (btw love JM too). The other departments will come later, but the engineering majors that get the letter have, so far, all managed to get accepted. Those that didn't, well, none of them got in so far as I know of.

oo i see...well yeah i guess i did misinterpret it ^^ thanks for clearing it up guys!

btw props to u Peppers for being the first one to realize where "symphonyofs0und" comes from! everyone else just thinks i'm an orchestra nerd... -_-

READ THIS if you did NOT get the letter
If you did NOT get the letter, it does NOT mean that you were rejected. One of my friends from high school did NOT get the letter, but he did get accepted into UCLA and is attending now. He didn't have the greatest stats, so I am assuming that the people who didn't get it probably just aren't the top applicants or something =X.

And if you did get it... you are most likely in... I have yet to hear of someone who got it and wasn't accepted. If you are that kind of person... please say something ;]

Is your friend an engineering major?
