Likely Letter?

will the email still come in the upcoming weeks?

There is a small chance that the engineering email will come in a second batch. This is what happened last year, where post-dated mail came in one wave, and then another. However, at this point, if you have stats that you would consider "low" (ie. <4.0 UC GPA, <2000 SAT), I would not want to give false hope by saying that something will come for you. If anyone on this forum that applied for engineering, did not receive the letter, and has "strong" stats (ie. >4.1 UC GPA, 2200+ SAT), it would be extremely helpful if they posted, since the likelihood of a second batch of emails is greatly increased.

Either that, or one of us can go ask the engineering department >___>;;

to Debbie427,
yes, my friend is an electrical engineering major

I wonder if they sent it out for transfers.

I did not get the letter for Engineering. I hate that. Im like crying rite now.

My stats:
GPA: 4.08 (UC)
Biggest upward trend a counselor at UCSD saw.
SAT: 2190
SAT II (MATH2): 780
SAT II (BIO): 760

National Merit Commended Student
CSF Life Membership
Volunteer Awards
French Awards
Leadership (ASB)
Speech and Debate
Var. Tennis Team (Captain)
Hecka Club officer positions
400+ hours of comm. service

I dont remembr anymore, IM LIKE SO DEPRESSDDD!!! My essays were especially good cuz my eng. teacher really liked them. IDK how this process works... Congrats to everyone who got in.

Wow. I had lesser stats but I got the letter. The only thing i did better than you was gpa.

my son did not get this letter, but he did get the invitation to apply for regents. So... how could not getting this letter mean rejection? I think that getting the regents letter also suggests that he is among the top applicants.

any thoughts??

^Are you sure he was engineering?

CIT, those stats are reasonably strong. If someone else on this board makes a similar claim that they have strong stats, it's very likely that a second batch of emails will be coming out, but, still, don't count on it for sure.

guitars101 my friend got the regents and he to this letter too, however, it was in his bulk. Ask your son to check his bulk email.

CIT, double check if you applied for engineering, you got some good stats and ECs, also keep in mind the official decisions haven't come out yet and you never really know if you are accepted or denied... i personally think that giving out a letter without giving a straight forward answer of whether you are in or not is good at all... the only reason they do it is for people from out of state and maybe norcal to plan their trip earlier... i actually like the way Cal organized their open house trip by a link after you seen your acceptance page... they pulled off a three day event after the decision time then why UCLA can't do the same with only one day of open house?

hello rejection....

"It does not say anything about the other schools. I think that it follows the Regent's format. They chose their top students, but not everyone."

^^ i don't think it's necessarily top students. it's just engineering students.

i think you misunderstood the quote, the quote implies that just like the regent's letter, which wasn't sent to everyone, they only sent to the top applicants, and the engineering letter follows that format in the way that they didn't send to all the applicants applied to engineering just those who are top applicants within the pool of students applied for engineering major.

Are you sure they only sent e-mails to top applicants within the engineering pool? Cause there's no way i'm a top applicant, especially being from OOS

did you have high math and science scores on tests with good grades in those classes? i heard they emphasis on math and science during the application evaluation.

its not that they are sent to top applicants period...they just send it to who, they believe, is qualified and will be successful with engineering at the escuela

i think so...i don't know if my uc gpa is right but it's 3.95ish. i got a 5 on calc bc and high A's in math and sciences, 35 on math act, took 7 sciences in high school, 14 aps total. 780 on sat math. however i got 710 math iic and 650 physics, which was ownage.

yeah with those math and science scores you are pretty strong within engineering applicants... you are definitely going to out compare some of other applicants who may have higher language but lower math scores...

I got this letter last year and did the same researching on CC, yeah I'm pretty sure this is "THE" engineering letter. Congrats guys!

Ok now I gotta hit the books lol...

I got this letter as well, and my stats are as follows. 2130 SAT score. 760 on Math ii. 650 on Physics =[. 5 on Calc AB, 4 on Comp Sci A, English Lang, and US History, and 3 on Physics B. Overall 4.5 GPA, with about 60 A-G count. And I live in Cali.

But now my senior grades suck, so I'm sort of scared... oh well. What do my senior grades have to be like? Can't I get like 3 C's or something lol.
