Likely Letter?

IhaveAHobbie: yeah see, your math and science are very strong. I do good on my ap's too (5 on calc and 4 on physics) and crappy on my SAT's :(

samdwlee: as long as they arent D's or F's...you can get anything as long as the unweighted gpa is 3.0 or higher

i believe its actually no more than 2 Cs... and i heard that UCLA and Cal look at weighted 3.0 GPA while other UCs look at unweighted... but im not too sure about those...

It's no more than 2 Cs per semester, and if anyone doubts that, I had 3 Cs senior year and I have a log of all the emails I sent them regarding the issue.

peppers, 3 Cs in 1 semester or 3 Cs total?

Hmm okay so as long as I can pull 2 C's and a 3.0 GPA, i should be alright. that shouldn't be too hard. but can someone confirm the weighted or unweighted issue? haha i know i should finish strong, but senioritis is killing me.

you must have at least a 3.0 UNWEIGHTED GPA and YOU MUST NOT RECEIVE A GRADE LOWER THAN A C. If you do..call immediately, that is if you get in.

Have a fun senior year but don't be lame and stupid.

I just got the letter version of this email today! yippe! : (@) <- poliwhirl pwns

It's unweighted, and I had 2 Cs in one semester, and another in a different one.

Got a snail mail version of the email (with exact same wording) today.

me too ;).

so is it for sure that if we applied engineering and did not get this email/letter we're basically rejected?

also what were your stats, for those who did get the letter/email?

i applied for civil engineering
3.6uw
3.9ucgpa
27 composite act
32 math
27 english
26 reading
23 science
750 math 600 bio

no one really knows for sure until the official decisions come, for all we know people that got letters might still be rejected on official decisions... sure don't don't know much real life examples of people getting rejected after the letter or people get it without getting the letter but there are just way too many people here at UCLA and too few on this board which means chances of meeting someone didn't get the letter and got in is very small, similar case with the other but since they don't even come here we don't know them for sure

My s got the email:

Mechanical Engineering
3.8 uw
4.37 UCgpa
SAT 2250 one sitting (770 Math)
770 Physics 750 Math 2

i got the mail with:

Electrical Engineering
3.95 UW
4.29 UC
Act 34 (31 English/36 Math/ 35 Reading/ 35 Science)
SAT 2110 (790M/650CR/670W)
790 Math / 780 Chem

I got the mail with 3.96UC; 2100SAT

is it only for Engineering

^ yeah I think so

Yes, only engineering.

Looks like >750 scores on the SAT IIs are the deciding factor...

not for me
