<p>no, you can definitely still get in. the vast majority of people they accept never get likely letters. </p>

I didn't get a likely letter (instate) and had better stats than most people I knew that got them...what happened was that the admissions office misfiled my recommendation form, I can't say for sure whether or not I would have gotten one if they hadn't misplaced it, but moral of the story, a few hundred are sent out, **** happens, just because you don't get one is not indicative of whether you get in or not.</p>

<p>Hey there guys, I got one this past week (dated 11/18/08... but I got it this Tuesday in the mail... whaaaat? haha). Submitted my application on the 25th of October and I am ACHING for 1/15 to be here already!</p>

In-state female
Live in Chapel Hill, NC --- literally 80% of my high school applies to UNC, so competition's pretty tough
SAT: 2270
ACT: 33
6 APs, all 5s on exams so far
3.95 GPA unweighted, 4.6 weighted
major extracurriculars: Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, president of my a cappella group, 3-year student government senator, NHS, etc. </p>
<p>UNC's my number 1, so hopefully things'll work out. Question though: for those of you who also got one of these letters this week, where else are you applying?</p>

<p>Oh good deal, haha I figured it had to be something like that. Apparently decisions came out on January 4th for the class of '12 --- I wish it'd be that early this year! gaaah!</p>

<p>ok, so I was hesitant to say this at 1st cuz I didn't want to drive you guys crazy with anxiously waiting the day, but UNC usually lets early applicants know after about january 5th or so. If you check online they will begin to be posted. Now NOT ALL will be posted by this day or the next or the following but within a week or so they are pretty much all out. So if you're as anxious as I was last year, then now you know.</p>

<p>Haahaha thank you. Well whenever it comes, at least we don't have to wait that much longer. I heard UNC had a 15% increase in applicants this year though --- wonder if that will push their schedule back a bit...</p>
<p>when did all of you who got a likely letter submit your app? I submitted mine on 11/1. Also, i second the question about them sending the letters out in batches. you all think i can get one with these stats?</p>
