Likely Letter?

I know this is probably nothing special, but I've just been looking for any sign I can get, so I got this letter in a priority mail envelope which did the usual "thank you for applying" and told me reasons why I should consider Hamilton over other schools, but then it said to "please accept our personal invitation to visit Hamilton", it was signed by the director of admissions, and in her handwriting it said "P.S. Have a great year!" A brochure and viewbook were attached. Did everyone get this?

When'd you submit your application? I want one! xD
Did you apply EDII?
And, have you already gotten your MyHamilton info?
I have not yet. I'm applying EDII, but I haven't gotten MyHamilton stuff yet. I also didn't send in the app until Jan 1.

thank you for responding!
I believe I submitted my app December 17th or 18th, I didn't apply EDII, and I had already received my account info...I wouldn't stress, yours probably got held up over the holidays, if in a week or two you haven't received anything, call admissions and ask to check the status of your application and make sure all your materials are in

Oh, I'm not worried about the MyHamilton thing. They sent an email about receiving my app.
I'm thinking that what you got is basically a Likely Letter. So congrats! Is Hamilton one of your top schools?

I got that letter also I think.. except I've already visited Hamilton twice so idk about that!

thanks! yeah it is, so i'm pretty happy, i just don't want to get my hopes up if hamilton's just an exceptionally friendly school

i got it too, and i applied to ED II...i don't know how it could be a likely letter if they are so early in the application process. i literally sent my application a week ago. It's probably sent to most people....

hmm oh wellll

A likely letter is usually what is given to athletes from Ivy League schools (AKA DI) who cannot offer a signing offer due to recruiting practices. A likely letter says exactly that, we've reviewed your application and it is very likely that you will gain admission. Anything less than that is just recognition that they appreciate your application.

a late response but I believe Hamilton has a reputation for personalizing letters and such. I too received a similar letter, it makes a huge impression to know they didn't stamp their name. :D

I also applied to Hamilton and was unable to visit, is that a huge disadvantage?

Dac - I don't think it matters, I got in EDII and didn't visit.

floee, if you don't mind could your share your stats for EDII admission

And add if you did or didn't have an interview? :) No pressure.
