If I got a likely letter from the Yale admissions offce, would getting two B's this semester jeopardize my acceptance?

Why do you get a likely letter? Are you a recruited athlete? Or do you simply have perfect grades, scores, ect.?

grades and accomplishments or something

hokaywhoaru applied through questbridge. A lot of questbridge kids have been getting calls from yale in the past week essentially saying they will be admitted.

really? how do you know this? that's good to know
my original question still stands

how many people recieve likely letters? Half the incoming class or five people?

its usually only athletes or superstars...and i guess questbridge applicants

Yale Daily News - ?Likely letters? part of Yale?s admit strategy

eating food,

where have you hear that a lot of qb kids are getting notified?

Congratulations hokaywhoaru! Do you mind posting ur stats?

I'm worried about this, too. I also received a likely letter, and on my Midyear Report I'm getting one B- in AP Calculus (I'm usually never one to blame the teacher but... I swear he's crazy!)

Anyway, can anyone answer the OP's original question?

Two Bs shouldn't jeopardize acceptance. Last year, I believe, a couple hundred likely letters went out.

So, likely letters are being mailed out now?

I would've thought they'd be mailed a lot earlier, to snag the kids that were awesome but not EA. Guess I suck at estimation.

Have they ever not admitted someone who got a likely letter? Because that would suck so much more than just being flat out rejected..

hi hokawhoaru,
I applied for questbridge as well, was a finalist, and wasn't matched. I'll like to know how you got the likely letter,(phone call/email/letter) and could you post ur stats, so i can see if i have a chance?

Thanks

^ hahaha @ Denebola!

"Guess what? We really, really like you! You're basically IN, man! Congrats!"

2 Months later

"Ooohhhh, yeah.....about that......"

:(

Only the admissions office and a person who received a likely and was ultimately rejected would know if a likely has EVER resulted in a rejection. I've never seen it happen, but I only personally know of four people who have received one (I heard about their likely letters at admitted student events to which local interviewers were invited).

I was matched to Princeton, so i think it might have to do with their rivalry. I only got a letter, but hope to get a phone call. Stats pretty normal

^ "Mexican"

lol, FTW

wait isnt questbridge matching binding?

no, it's only binding for the schools who have binding early rounds, and since Yale does EA it's not binding through questbridge either

Choose Yale!!
