likely letters 2016

how many waves of these likely letters are there?

Any likely emails for the engineering school?

Yep I got one for SEAS. So happy!!!

Yes I got one for engineering.

Are these usually physical letters or emails?

Those who got likely letters, would you be willing to say why you think you got them? (Athlete, URM, won major national award, etc). I know that many UPenn applicants are highly qualified, with high scores, grades, etc. what do you think specifically set you apart to the point where you are one of the few who got a likely letter? Thanks.

testobsessed, I have no national awards or recognitions, but I am a girl applying to SEAS and have lots of community service extracurriculars, a 2370 SAT score, and a good class ranking. I’m really surprised I got a likely letter because I’m not sure why I did… I pretty much had no science or math extracurriculars and still got a likely letter to SEAS! I think my essays and my volunteer experiences were very strong, though.

EDIT:

I’m also not an underrepresented minority either, I’m an Asian female from NC… yeah. I have no idea what set me apart.

My son got his likely letter (email) to Wharton. He also received a likely letter to Yale about a week ago. He is totally undecided as to where to go, knows he wants to live on campus, realizes that Upenn is at the top for business but Yale has a stronger liberal arts program. Going to be a difficult decision.
By the way he has strong extracurriculars, team captain, 3rd in his class academically, national award in math, underrepresented minority. I think his Yale essay was stronger than his UPenn so not sure what set him apart.

Do they come in waves or is this it?

I wonder did any applicant for Wharton dual-degree program receive likely letter?

Is it done? Were these likely emails only yesterday?

any internationals get likely letters? o.o

I’m assuming the emails are done :(

I received one, too! My SAT was on the lower side with a 2140, but my transcript is nearly perfect (only 4 A minuses, everything else either A or A+)
I’ve grown with my extracurriculars over the past 4 years and submitted strong essays and recommendations. I had no idea likely letters were sent to non-atheletes, but I guess they are!

Long time no post here ;)

Hello everyone! roughly 1 month away from decisions! Good luck everyone!

Last year Penn sent out around 400 likely letters. I feel like more people on CC would have received one if they were all sent out already, assuming the same amount were sent out because 400 is quite a lot… Congrats to all who received one, though!

Just because im hopeful, im going to agree with 567890 that they havent all been sent out yet!

They were all sent out at the same time this year, which was Friday night.

I got a likely letter.

I’m a middle-class white male from a mildly okay, small-city public school in Maryland. I don’t play sports. I am in charge of a few competitive academic clubs that are generally the best locally, as well as a religious club and a cultural club. I participate in a program to inspire local kids and connect them with leaders. I have also won or performed well in some regional and state math and science competitions (nothing unbelievable, but there isn’t much opportunity here), and I got Summa Cum Laude on the National Latin Exam for Latin III and Latin V-VI Poetry. I am a National Merit Finalist and AP Scholar with Distinction. I imagine the recommendations were okay; they liked me a lot.

Scores:
SATI (single sitting): 2380 (780 in math)
SATII: MathII - 800, Physics - 800, U.S. History - 770
unweighted GPA: 4.0 (weighted rank unreported; 1 or 2, depending on a technicality)

I think my stated potential majors were math, computer science, and physics. My family says the majors may be in demand for Penn.

Anyone else care to post their stats?
