When does Stanford begin sending out likely letters (specifically for academic recruits)?

early feb.

I just read someone’s post saying their friend received one yesterday, so I guess they’re on their way!

They typically start in February and keep sending them out in waves through March (sometimes as close as 10 days to the decision date).

Snail mail or email letters?

Snail mail. Sometimes, the admissions office calls you as well.

Please excuse my ignorance. What’s a “likely letter”?

A letter (or contact) of likely admission. It’s the decision before the decision. Generally they are used to “catch the best” before the best stray to another school.

Forgive my ignorance. What’s snail letter?

the stamped one.

A “likely” to Stanford? I’m taking this moment to wrap my average mind around this concept.

one of my friends already received a likely letter just FYI

Congrats, could you share his stats?

D got a likely letter

@bostonmom2, when did she get hers? Huge congratulations!

Friday. And thanks

so… are these like early decision letters for the people that they REALLY REALLY want?

I thought they were sending all their letters of acceptances out on April 1st…

thaichee, yeah but these are the “likely” admissions. I believe someone explained it as a decision letter for people they REALLY REALLY want.

Boom, just got one last Friday. Finally, grades don’t matter anymore (it’s gonna be awesome to scrape by with B’s) and I can party it up!
