Hey everyone, I was curious if any non-athletes has received likely letters yet, as there seems to have been little discussion of them so far on CC. I know it’s a silly thing to wish for, but if anyone has received one, please share!
William and Mary sends them in the form of postcards. My daughter was thrilled to receive one
One of my students recieved one from Yale a couple of weeks ago. He isn’t an athlete.
You do realize that literally a few dozen will recieve them. Don’t wish for one. It’s an exercise in futility.
Yeah to add to what momoftwins said above W&M sends them to about 25 percent of the admitted class, based on an outstanding applications and the ones that they finish reading first that are likely to be admitted. There is no prerequisite of being an athlete to receive a likely letter.
I got one from W&M today, too!
Nice! Has anyone heard from Dartmouth? Supposedly they give out a lot of likely letters.
@chipotleforlife I haven’t heard anything from Dartmouth
“A lot” is relative, I guess. Dartmouth sends out between 400-500 LL’s, but ~200 of those go to recruited athletes in the early round. The vast majority of accepted applicants will not receive one.
I received one today from Washington and Lee, as well as an invitation for an all expenses paid overnight visit.
You do realize that while unlikely, there are a few students who receive them, and the original post mentioned it as silly to hope.
