Did anyone on CC expect to get a likely letter from a certain college and not get one?

I don't mean to sound boa****l, but I thought I had a good chance of receiving a likely letter from one of the private schools I applied to. However, after reading the threads, it looks to me like I won't be getting one. This has left me terribly disappointed and apprehensive about the rest of my college decisions. I know that not getting a likely letter does not mean I won't get in to the school, but now I am just worried that my application to the other schools I applied to aren't good enough either.

I didn't know about likely letters before reading CC (my brother, who had good [2100] SATs and a decent GPA, didn't get any), but I was kinda bummed when even Boston University didn't give me a call.

I know that not everyone gets them before being admitted, so I'm not really stressing about it.

Likely letters are primarily for athletes and other highly recruited groups (minorities, etc.). Even if you are the most academically qualified person applying, you may not be a "top" recruiting priority.

Thanks you guys, I totally understand that, except I just had such high expectations...which weren't met. I check my mail box every day hoping for a likely letter and when I don't get one I rush onto CC to check if other people have. I do this every day. It's a vicious cycle.
