Which ivies have sent them out so far?

Just a guess, but as March 1st is fast approaching . . . I would say that every ivy has sent them out. For Harvard, see: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/1464156-2013-likely-letters.html and http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/1296288-likely-letter-wave.html?highlight=likely+letter+waves

What’s significant about march first?

RD acceptances come out in a month.

I think Yale, Columbia, Brown, Darthmouth and recently Harvard. I am not sure about Cornell, Princeton and Upenn. Check their Forum

All 8 use them plus many more. They do this firstly to lock in recruited athletes who are also being courted by other colleges w/o later admissions notification dates. Only recently have LLs been used for non-athletes.

But no one who isn’t a recruited athlete or has rec’d several LLs already – should be pining away for one. The vast majority of eventual admits never get one. You might as well go pick some lotto numbers.

Gibby, I noticed you didn’t recommend the “Likely Letter :-)” Thread …I guess CC removed it? Too bad, because it was pretty funny and because I think someone will have to watch that cluster of poster/s, since they continue to offer their “advice” and their number of posts is climbing…
