<p>Do likely letters come out for ED applicants?.. and if they do, does anyone know when theyre normally sent?</p>
<p>i know its probs a random process or probably something that goes to athletic peeps or only the best in the pool..but the thought of it IS SO EXCITING.</p>

<p>My understanding is that there are no academic likely letters for ED. There really is no need for them, since the purpose of academic likely letters is to entice exceptionally strong applicants to start falling in love with a school before regular decisions come out (and hence to ultimately choose it over other schools).</p>
<p>Penn–and other schools–started sending out academic likely letters during the RD round a couple of years ago, resulting in this snowy video greeting from Admissions Dean Eric Furda this past Winter:</p>
