If I recall correctly, UVa sent out likely letters to last years applicants. Does anyone know if they are doing that again this year and if so, around what time do they come out?

UVA sends likely letters to applicants who are being considered for the echols program in late february/early march. I received mine at some point in the beginning of march, and, as I recall, there were a couple of threads on CC about the likely letters.

so are these likely letters only for kids who got in ED, or for RD applicants who haven't gotten in yet but are also being considered for echols too? hope that made sense

I think it's only for RD applicants.

its for applicants who are in consideration for echols like cav said, so that means it could be both ED and RD applicants i think

It's only for RD applicants. The likely letters are used for top applicants who will likely have more than a few good options.

wait so ED applicants cant be considered for echols??

no, ED applicants are considered. I applied ED and I'm an echols scholar. You just won't find out until they send the general email in mid march.

Yes, ED applicants can be considered for Echols. They will not, however, receive likely letters.

ohhhhhhh okay
