I am a URM who applied RD to Rice University for the fall of 2014. I recently received an invitation to Vision Weekend. Is this invitation indicative of a high chance of being accepted (similar to a likely letter)? Do the majority of individuals invited to Vision end up being accepted? If not, does Rice University send out likely letters?

I don’t know about a “likely letter” but getting invited to Vision is apparently a good sign. Take a look at this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/rice-university/1606237-vision-2014-a.html

Ghgirl. How did you get the invite? email or snail mail?

@bostonmom2 I received the invite by email

@yakker Thank you!

Anytime a school extends an invite to you for a particular program (during the school year), it’s a good thing. The school though has not seen your application or your complete admissions file, so it cannot be considered a likely, but it can be considered promising and hopeful :-)

@Ghgirl, my son also received an invite and he already rsvp and flight scheduled. Go, staying 2 nights and experience the school firsthand is better than just a one day school visit. Good Luck

Definitely recommend visiting. The campus, atmosphere, students are a huge part of college and experiencing this is of utmost importance.

Off topic, but the new CC format sucks. I mean, why does it need to feel like Facebook?

@Saona63 @Antarius Thanks for the advice!
