Likely Letters

My son got a likely email yesterday - he has applied to the M & T Program. Not sure if the likely is for M & T or his second choice, School of Engg.

Lol. Either we all got into school of engineering or we all got into M&T.

Probably @Aryvane is right. They likelied everyone who got into M&T.

Anyway, all we can do is wait, and hope the letter in the mail provides some more information.

February 28, My son got a call the Monday before he received the likely E-mail from an admissions officer. I suspect she was calling to find out how interested he was in the double degree program before sending the likely E-mail. The admissions officer related to my son that she usually makes these calls earlier but was later this year. So I think the likely E-mail are sent out based on department majors.

Congrats to everyone who got in through the second batch of likelies: for the M&Ters, did you guys have mindblowing stats/achievements? What do you think made you stand out? Grats Again on this honor!!

Congrats to all who got a letter!

Did any Whartons get a letter?

Just got the letter in the mail confirming that my likely is for Vagelos!

(and a very nifty Penn scarf)

Did it explicity say for LSM, or did it say College of Arts and Sciences?

Did anybody else get something in the mail apart from the likely email?

I received my likely email on Friday, congrats to all others who did! I just checked and found my scarf in the mail, but the card accompanying it did not make any mention to whether it was for Penn M&T or my second choice of Penn Engineering. Has anyone received any information regarding this distinction?

congrats bobokrr…the vibe i’m feeling is that the likelies released on the 28th are for the respective dual-degree programs (so, M&T). Mind sharing your stats? Getting a likely is truly impressive.

All those who put down M&T as first choice, please do come back and post whether you got into M&T.

Congratulations!

@bobokrr: I received two packages in the mail:

an envelope containing a letter from the dean that made it explicitly clear that it was the dual degree
program (LSM) and not my second-choice school (wharton).

a (larger) envelope with the scarf and card

So I think you may receive notice soon.

Although I haven’t received the courier yet (I live in India so it would probably take ages), but I have found out from multiple trusted sources at Penn that whoever received a likely on 28th got into 1 of the dual degree programs.

I am all set for M&T and congratulations to you all!

At the University of Penn, if you do not receive a likely admission letter (regular decision) does this mean that you probably will not get accepted

"At the University of Penn, if you do not receive a likely admission letter (regular decision) does this mean that you probably will not get accepted "

At Penn, if you APPLY, it means you probably will not get accepted.

That being said, only a small fraction of eventual admitees get LLs.

@cornish: No. Only 10% of the accepted RD class gets a likely.
The vast majority will get acceptances on March 27th.

@bob1235 I don’t think I have any mind-blowing achievements, I’m just relatively well-rounded. I don’t want to jump the gun, so I will wait until I’m accepted to post my stats. The likely letter on February 28th, however, was for the M&T program.

Has anyone received an actual physical letter? I received the email and scarf, but no letter.

@psvmsa Same.

@Zzany Is M&T at the top of your choice list?

Also guys, your counsellors will have received an email about your likely with the exact course name. If you are still unsure you can check it up. On the positive side, I am pretty sure whoever got the likely got their first choice.

My son got a physical letter saying that the “Likely” is for the M&T. He also got the scarf in another piece of mail. Since then, he has received three emails form current and past students of the M&T Program.
