Has anybody received a likely letter from Dartmouth yet?

Not yet, cross your fingers!

Do all the Ivy schools send likely letters? I thought these are reserved for athletes many of whom would have received these during the ED/EA round. What types of candidates and how many receive these during the RD round? Also do all the ivies send them? Just curious. Are they reserved for applicants that have won very prestigious awards………

Does anyone know when they will be mailed?

No one should “cross their fingers”. Waiting on Likely Letters is like waiting for the Powerball ticket. Harvard and Yale issue about 100 to their 30K non athlete applicants.

The amount of anticipation for these EXTREMELY rare and pointed marketing tools is way out of proportion with reality. But I guess that goes with the territory as far as selective college admissions – everyone thinks they’ve got a shot.

Of course no one know if, when, how many Likely Letters will be mailed. It’s totally up to the whims of what Dartmouth decides to do.

I’m still crossing mine, and I bought a lottery ticket this morning.

I received my likely letter in the mail this afternoon…I was so surprised, I didn’t expect one & didn’t realize what it was called until I asked my mom. Lolol.

Props for you!

They go out in waves to the RD applicants, good luck!

What did it say this year?

I received mine today as well!

Congrats!

Thank you!

Do IVY’s send 'em by email or snail mail?

BTB: telephone followed by actual letter, telephone followed by email. These are the two I’ve seen. But the traditional window for these has now passed. It’s unlikely any more are going to be issued.

@T26E4, I thought that Dartmouth just sent them through snail mail and that they sent multiple waves?

my comments were not meant to be DMouth specific. I have no first hand knowledge of how DMouth delivers their LLs – I was speaking in generalities. I wasn’t aware you were asking for the specifics. My mistake

Hmm. I never heard about telephone before. I’m an international FWIW, so I thought if it were to reach me, I’d get it late
Oh well.

D’s letter was snail mail: no advance telephone or email. But, that was 2009, and even Dartmouth may have changed. (They’re finally changing to electronic time sheets for employees, for example!)

Just got one in CT.
Though, it’s dated Feb 28.
